: Nitrous Installed
LBZ DMAX 08-10-2005, 04:04 AM I gave in to the addiction and now I am snorting the good stuff! Decided to step it up a notch.:D Thanks to Clyde (West Coast Diesel Performance) on this nitrous setup. I decided to mount inside the cab, as you can see from the pictures. http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6273/dsc000398nr.jpg
It's a tight fit back there with a 15lb. bottle, but I managed to shoe horn it.http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/1983/dsc000355pq.jpg
I decided to install the brackets on a mount I had laying around from some other project (house related). Worked out well; didn't drill any holes to mount the bottle brackets. I just used the existing holes for the plastic flap thing that was removed for the bottle. Only hole I drilled was under the driver side panel (door jam). Besides that, there was already a hole underneath the cab that has a grommet, which I used to route the line to the solenoid.http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/1885/dsc000488ti.jpg
Just thought I would share my experiences with the setup for anyone else out there pondering where to install the bottle. Oh yeah, still have to get another hose for the blow down.:( Better hurry for Friday or else the track might not let me run. Here are some misc. pics. Enjoy!):h Any comments are welcomed!:D

Oh Sonny you might want to down size those pic's just a bit ;)
PS-No spraying when you run against your Mom on Friday that wouldn't be nice :p:

Your lucky to even see pics! Didn't focus too much on downsizing, sorry.:o:
Hey mom, it's run whatcha brung. Besides, I may not even run...:( We'll find out hopefully today. Also need to find out where I can get another hose for the blow down. Got any suggestions to help out your son?:D

Let me ask Pat this morning. I'm sure we will be able to find you one. There are lots of speed shops around. I'm sure Bottlefed Racing would have something in stock.
PS-I just checked the list and your not on it  You might want to give Alan an e-mail... Then again you might want to see what happens tomorrow:(

It's confirmed, I'm in.:D Since I bought my spot from bottlefed, I don't think they'll update. Then again, I may have to resell my spot. We'll see what transpires this morning.
ratlover 08-10-2005, 09:56 AM So how many bottles have you emptied? :D
A heater makes life nice;)
socaldieseltech 08-10-2005, 12:06 PM Hey I have a blowdown tube if you want it.
LBZ DMAX 08-10-2005, 12:20 PM So how many bottles have you emptied? :D

Still on my first bottle.:o: I'm kind of scared to hit it on the street.

Wussy!!! ):h ):h
ratlover 08-10-2005, 03:21 PM Words of wisdome from Wade :D Dont be a weenie :p: We expect a full report. Keep uping pills till you run outa hair on your sack, the truck lays over or the smoke is about cleared up. And then go to the track and start stuffing bigger pills till you go slower or run outa fuzz on your testies:grd:
You cant fine tune on the street but it will get you in the ballpark.
Slick 08-10-2005, 03:22 PM How many runs can you get out of a 15 lbs. bottle? I know that it depends on jet size. I just would like an idea.
IBDMAX'IN 08-10-2005, 03:31 PM 2 without a heater, 3 with a heater!!
2 without a heater, 3 with a heater!!
 We get about 10
ratlover 08-10-2005, 03:49 PM What jet size or sizes(if 2 stage) do you guys run?
Wade is up in the clouds and trying to clean up propane on a LB7. Its funny to talk to gasser guys about the amount we are spraying. I had a guy talking to me and he made a comment joking around about "I have a 50 jet you can throw in there if you want" all big and bad untill I told him that I was running way bigger than that just in one stage.....then looked at me like I was from mars ):h
We just ran a baby shot, a single 70 jet. But the trans wouldn't hold it :(
It's off the truck now anyways.
ratlover 08-10-2005, 03:55 PM You guys figured it was the trans? I remember you saying that 1/2 the time it wanted to lay down in 5th?
McRat 08-10-2005, 04:03 PM Currently we do not have a trans for the LLY's that will support more than 500HP reliably. Why the LB7's can go up there, we haven't a clue. Supposedly, we are running the same parts.
Kinda discouraged over the whole LLY Allison configuration. Currently, it's the #1 problem with LLY's. Kinda bummed that nobody knew about it until a couple of months ago. We kept getting told, "It's the ECM Tune, not the Trans!".
Maxter 08-10-2005, 06:59 PM I was just wondering...
My nitrous install manual stated that the bottle should be oriented with the valve on the upside pointing to the front of the vehicle for an optimized nitrous pick-up from the straw inside the bottle.
I saw some pictures with the bottle sideways like yours so my question is... Dows it really matter?
Thanks.
McRat 08-10-2005, 11:52 PM Label always go UP. To get every last drop, tilt the valve end upward a few degrees.
Maxter 08-11-2005, 12:03 AM McRat: That one thing to put the label up but under heavy acceleration the juice is more likely to go to the bottom (where the tip of the straw is) when the valve is facing forward. It made sense to me but no one seems to care about that so maybe it's not that important.
