TheBac 08-09-2005, 11:13 PM Welcome to the Place! Another Michigander! You're pretty close to CrazyDaze, C.A.P, and VFRRider.
Addicting, isn't it? Just have your wife hide your wallet and credit cards right now.
There was discussion about this a while ago. It was last year sometime. IIRC, the person had body-color LineX sprayed on his rockers because of the infamous chipping, and it looked pretty good. You may want to do a search for it.
accrash 08-10-2005, 08:25 AM I'm getting ready to do this on my '02 crew cab. A few weeks ago, I was washing her and noticed a large area under the rear doors where the paint was flaking off of the rocker panels. Instead of repainting, I think I'm going to have bedliner material sprayed on the rockers. My truck is black, so color-matching won't be a problem. I'll let you know how it goes.
TruckDaddy 08-10-2005, 09:59 AM I'm a LINE-X dealer. Some LINE-X dealers use Dupont Nason paint for color matches, so there is NO fading and you get an exact color match.
These are bad pics, but it's all I have for rockers. Here's a color match:

Here's black:

Now, this obviously is not rockers/flares, but it's a good pic of what to expect. The lower facia of this Altima was sprayed with color matched LINE-X (with Nason):

nassdmax 08-10-2005, 10:19 AM That looks really good for a color match. I know I don't like the application on the front of a car, but the match and usage looks good.
I was going to suggest rocker shultz and repaint over top of it. Similar stuff as line-x, just different.
TheBac 08-10-2005, 10:20 AM TruckDaddy, Was that DMax a two-tone from the factory? I haven't ever seen one painted like that.
When you do the rockers, do you just go up to the door bottoms?
Think they could do '03 Marine Blue?
TruckDaddy 08-10-2005, 10:42 AM It was a white truck. The customer wanted a color from a Suburban they had. We sprayed the bed, rails, rockers, and flares with this color.
We can spray at whatever level you want. Just be sure to indicate exactly what you want. To answer your question, no, we just don't spray the door bottoms, we actually spray the rocker panels.
Typically, we use the factory paint code, which is usually on a sticker on the driver's door or door jam, to get an exact color match. However, we can spray any color with or without a paint code. '03 Marine Blue is no problem at all.
Here's a blue bed color match:

buildingup 08-10-2005, 06:53 PM TRUCKDADDY, love the look on the white truck, could you tell me how much it runs roughly to line x the rockers and flares
TruckDaddy 08-11-2005, 08:57 AM I'm not supposed to post prices, I'll send you a PM.
buildingup 08-11-2005, 09:11 AM on the PM you sent me, you said if i do the color match to make sure the dealer uses the Dupont Nason, what does that do to the line x?? does it just make it come out smoother of gives it the glossy look?? thanks for the help though
TruckDaddy 08-11-2005, 09:32 AM Dupont Ful-Thane Nason is a urethane based automotive paint, it actually bonds to LINE-X while LINE-X cures. If you use Nason for a color match, you can get and EXACT color match, the liner is glossy, and it will not fade any faster than your truck's paint.
