Im looking for some help. My plow truck died in the middle of the storm yesterday. Its a 93 K1500 with the 4.3 V6 and a 5spd. It was running ok, then started blowing black smoke, something smelled hot/burning and sounded like a cold powerstroke. Its a yard truck only but its gonna snow again and i need it. Ive gotta check the coolant temp sensor and cut off the cat to make sure its not plugged. any other suggestions? Thanks for the help.

id be doing a compression test,,,,,sounds like a rod knock,,,,how is the oil pressure?

Oil pressure hasn't changed still on the higher side. It cranks fine. ive gotta see what it will do tonight, battery was dead the other night.
