Just bought a 2003 LB7 a couple weeks ago and LOVE IT!! My one complaint is that the '99 7.3 PSD I had spoolled up hellafast compared to the DMAX. Just wondering where to start w/ the best mods to reduce the lag as much as possible... Exhaust? Chip? what???

Hey woody I think you may have something wrong because mines spools up way faster than any powerstroke I have ever drove. We have them at my work and we have had every year of stroker made. My duramax spools faster than all of them, that was one of my reasons for buying because I hated the strokes lag and inability go go over a curb or a rock until the turbo spooled sometime in the next week. Check the obvious like fuel and air filters , bad wastegate, also a dirty mass air flow, I'm some other people will probaly some better input to.

Also woody exhaust and intake help a little bit, but mostly a program and you would sh!t on the difference it makes. I work in west valley and I have a bully dog programer coming up for sale. I can let you try it out to see if you like it. I should get my new one in a few days, upgrading to more hp soon

Exhaust, chip. Like was mentioned check the basics and make sure you dont have a problem or a boost leak or something. I had a boost leak and spool up was noticibly worse although regular driving was OK. or filter ect might need looked at

rcr1978, I wouldn't mind checking out your programer to see the difference. The spool up isn't quite as bad when I'm up to speed but it's still noticable. I shot a gap trying to get into traffic yesterday and almost got rearended with WOT then when she finally spooled up I chirped the tires shifting into 2nd gear. This truck would walk on the chipped 7.3 I had but the lag is killing me.

By the way, I've only got about 4 tanks on new fuel and air filters. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_57.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSzeb008)

Put the turbo off your 7.3 on it. Small turbos spool faster.

I swiss-cheesed my airbox. I feel it helped somewhat. I did not want a new air kit since the best filtration system out there is stock.

I would also like to know the best way to check for a boost leak. I have lost almost 2psi since last summer. 24psi max reading on the attitude monitor. and my sop meter says it is spooling up a lot slower. I can count to 3 before the tires start sqealing.

The only thing I have left...
1. Boost leak.
2. recleaning mass flow sensor with something other than rubbing alcohol.

any ideas.

Is the stock box that restrictive that swiss cheeseing it helps? How many holes and what diameter would anyone who's done it recommend?
