I have a used factory cd/cass/am/fm head unit from an '03 that I'd like to sell. However, before I do that, I'd like to test it to be sure it works (didn't come from my vehicle). Any ideas short of going to the stealer? I'm not a car audio whiz so go easy...
Thanks

Try this, I learned this from a very knowledgable guy in Michigan. IIRC, you have to hook up power, memory and ground. It did work on a couple 6-disc's I had back in 2003:
"To bench test the radio you must
hold seek up, station # 5 & the power button all at the same time. This will
allow you to test the radio for 5 minutes."
I'd also say you could temp. install it in your truck, and when the theftlock kicks in (and it surely will), do the "key in ignition, turned to accessory, then go under hood and remove "radio" fuse for 30-45 seconds" trick. That will "fool" the theftlock and allow the radio to work. BUT.....
What I don't know is if that will lock your system when you re-install your old radio.
Lastly, take it to the dealer.

Thats great info, thanks Tom. Ive always wondered how people tested them on the bench when there was no BCM present to give a VIN signal.
