Still shopping trucks. Chevy claims the max pack 1500 truck will tow 10,700 pounds. Is this realistic? My tag trailer is right there and has fair tongue weight. Don’t tow a lot but want it there when I need it. Any help or real world experience would be appreciated.

I can see that. Heck, my 2004 Sierra Denali with the 6.0 is rated for 10,300 lbs...

I've towed an identical trailer (8500#) with a Vortec MAX truck, then my truck, and there is a noticeable difference between the two. While the MAX did fine, the 2500 was obviously much more comfortable towing it all the way through (power, stability, braking). If you don't tow through hills often, I think you would be fine. If you get into the mountains, coming from a LBZ, you're going to be disappointed. Just my opinion, of course. Its pretty hard to step back to a gas motor after owning a dmax.

I don’t tow more than 4-5 times a year and usually less than 200 miles each way. My trailer will push the envelope on weight. It's a 27' tag car hauler with small lounge in the front.

I think for occasional recreational towing, the MAX is fine. But if somebody were to buy one planning on hauling 10,000# commercially, I would to advise against.

Good luck with your decision. The 6.2 is a monster, especially with a custom PCM tune. I've never heard of anybody disappointed with it yet.

Better have good brakes on the trailer.
