Here's the skinny yall.

Ive got an '05 CC D/A and a Cognito 9" lift is in the mail. Im still torn on tire and rim size. I like the meaty look so I wont be running rims larger than 18". Is anyone running or know anyone runnin 38's with this setup? I need to make a decison soon, but want it to be the right one. Any suggestions on a combo. I have always liked the BFG M/T, but it seems a lot of guys are runnin Toyo's and Mickeys. Any suggestions for the 38's or should I stick with 37's?

Thanks much,

Stew

I went with the CST 9/11 lift and I agree with you on the 18's, It's plenty of wheel and I tow a big boat so keeping it real was impoartant...... I chose the Helo MAX 8's and the Toyo 38x15.50.... I get her back in a few days I will post some pics for you

If you don't mind ... how much did your lift kits cost you?

in my experience the toyo mt's handle weight a lot better than any of the mickeys in those sizes.mickeys are great tires for off roading.and fine for towing. just not "the best" tire for towing.they will do fine.but, the toyo mt's are the best tire you can buy right now in my opinion

here are some 38 on 20s . toyo makes the best tire . the toyo mt is quite on the street, agressive in the mud , and i have had them at 8 psi in the sand and never popped a bead . i also tow heavy about 12000 pounds and have never had a problem . here is pic of my rig . also with the cognito kit - good choice !!!!

Charley-

Please do when you get a chance. Id like to see how those 15.50's look......they might be a little wide for my taste, but on a 38 it might look just right.

Sorry Haven't gotten her back yet to snap any pics, little snafu on some chrome work put her back a few days... Re price I got a little carried away and kept adding and adding started with a 6" CST and 36 x 15.50 Mickeys and then I saw a truck with 9" CST and Toyo MT 38 x 15.50 and when I heard the Toyos on the Road I just had to do it.....:exactly:
Then I had to do Gears 4.56's:lol:
and Since Im a family Man and this truck was too damned high I ordered Amp Research steps:cool2:

got talked into a few more goodies but it was all very fair pricing... Jim IMZZ of IMZZ industries in Brea CA> is doing the work so when she is all done I will post a few pics, I think it will be a nice truck

I ran 39'' MT's with 9 inches of lift.. Good luck if you do any kind of truck pulling.. I tore everything out of the front end with the 39's on.. Drag racing was OK.. I never tried to launch in 4x4, though it did cut a 1.9 light in 2wd and run as fast as 14.1..
I ended up lowering it, and going back to 35's..

Those Amp Reasearch steps are the only way to go, WOW! I was thinking about the N-Fab's pretty hard, but you just changed my mind. Ive also just gotten my 4.56 Yukon gears F/R in the mail. It will be a few weeks before I can get the time I need to do the lift and gears in one shot....cant wait! What kind of chrome work are you gettin done?

Very nice truck!!!!! I am thinking of having my bumper and air dam painted too. Can you tell me what it cost to have it done and did it require a special (flexible) paint??? Thanks!

Out!

Charley,

Great job with the whole package. The blue lift and matching rear axle with the chrome shock hoop looks so good....the diff cover just adds that much more to an already sweet truck. Are you running the 9-11" CST at 9" or 11"? The Toyos are the way to go, you just sealed the deal on the tire for me but.....now I just have to figure out if I can run 38s or if I should be safe and get the 37s for my 9" Cognito. Thoughts?

I honestly don't remember the exact $$ what the bumper was on paint...I wanna say it was between $100-200 .... it turned out nice and Id assume there is a fair amout of prep work involved in painting one

Thank you! I am running the CST 9-11 kit... according to Jim @ IMZZ the biggest tire config he has fit on the CST 6-8 kit was a mickey 36x15.50, but he said it did not rub....I was thinking of going that route but the Toyos and thier sound on the road(or lack of sound i should say) is sorta what sealed the deal for me and the only way to fit the TOYOS on was going with the 9-11.. I have no regrets, truck turned out just the way I wanted it to and the ride is softer than stock:cool2:
