: Glad I have an LB7!
I just recently checked back in after several months (like 8). After reading all the issues with the LLY, I am glad I have an LB7.
It looks like the LB7 makes more power with the performance modules and gets better mileage. My injectors are solid, and I still have another 155,000 miles of warranty left on them.
The only factory warranry issue I've had was the reflash for a cold idle lope--which has been completely gone for some time, and I had the reflash so I could hook up my OD lockout.
I have had issues with some aftermarket components, but I have those pretty much resolved now.
Even when the LBZ comes out, it will be down 80 HP from where I currently am. Who knows, maybe the LBZ will be able to make lots more power, but I just can't see any reason to switch.

mannytranny 08-08-2005, 06:18 PM Im thrilled with the 02 as well.
Seems like these early trucks get better mileage too.
The bad thing about this place is that it seems like it brings out the want (for a lot of people, not myself really) for all the new stuff. They can no longer live with the "old" 300 hp, 520 lb ft of the LB7.
No TE (truck envy) here!
I like my LB7. The LBZ HP increase is probably due to a chip or programmer any how. So why pay more money for something we already have. I do like the idea of a six speed Allison though...Jim

tophog 08-08-2005, 11:04 PM Sounds like the LLY may end up being the odd motor in the bunch ... 1.5-2 year production?
_nar_ 08-09-2005, 12:14 AM I had been wondering why you never posted anymore blaine.
I am glad to be one of the guys with no LLY problems.. Yet... ;)
XAMARUD1 08-09-2005, 12:22 AM I was going to purchase a 2005 but after looking at all the posts regarding the LLY's I held off and found a low milage 2003 fully loaded GMC Dually. I'm glad I waited.
I wasn't intentionally avoiding the forum, but I had just moved to Tucson, had no real issues or upgrades in mind for my truck, and I am still wrapped up in waiting for out house to be built--should have been done by now (we put money down 2 Nov 04), but we are still 8-10 weeks away. on top of that, I am deploying to Qatar in a month, before the house is finished, leaving my wife to close.
deadfurrow 08-09-2005, 12:41 AM After I bought my LB7 in early Feb 04, & after reading about that nice new LLY motor here, I was a little jealous about not getting an LLY. But with the over-heating issue that some have, & especially the reduced fuel economy with the LLY, I'm glad now that I have an LB7.
:offtopic: I do plan on getting an LBZ this winter, though. I test drove an '06 tonight with the LLY, & that 6-speed Allison is sweeeeet.
MaxRock 08-09-2005, 03:06 PM I don't know what the big deal about sixth gear is...manny and I have been driving a six speed all along!!!:muahaha:

Ya just can't load the turbo as well during launch with a manual.
