Hi, I have an 05 with a Brimar dump insert best thing since sliced bread. To make the factory bed dump is inexpensive but the the new composite bed sides are not too forgiving wiht the weight and flex stresses. I am waiting for my new stainlees dump body to come in for my 05 and will be selling my insert. My personal view is to put an insert in or a complete dump body.

Northern Tool sells a conversion to make your picup bed dump. look here (http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&productId=552&R=552).

anybody know more about these.........they're sending me a brochure in the mail. its just a scissor hoist.......no reinforcement to the bed. this wold be perfect though, sleeper dump truck!!! vs jsut a dump truck which isn't very fun to take places when you're just go'n out

You would be better off with an Inset or a dump trailer. A friend had one of the body dumps. You have to remove your wheel wells so you can fill though the wheel opening as the filler can't be attached to the side. He also bent up his bed after dumping it a lot and it was a 87 too when they still had metal sides.

Hey as I said in my last reply an insert is a dump unit self contained that fits in to the bed of your truck. My insert is from Brimar and is a 2yd'er. With the stakes in its a 5yd'er. It has a 6000 lb lift rating but lifts more than that. The bed convertion type will destroy your composite bed sides and your bed all together. I will post pictures of my truck tomorrow in fat back pics. All my freinds say that was my best investment yet and I concure.

If you want to keep your bed and make it a dump have a local welder run bracing from front to rear and side to side under the bed. The stock bed will be junk after a few hard uses. The dump inserts are great but take away from the daily driver look if thats what your after.

Joey D your right in one way the oem bed would be junk after about 6 or 7 thousand Lbs dumped also the entire truck at least the cab would require a small body lift after the new sub frame installation. As for daily driving looks My truck is the cats meow in area of the country with my insert. Everyone loves the look and the added uses of it now. Ever shovel 8yds of mulch or top soil to make the wife happy on week ends out of your daily driver. I have and know its not a chore and you can make a couple bucks toward the payment with your neighbers. as soon as I can figure out how to post pictures I will post my "purfect" investment .
