Hey guys!
I just installed the pyro and noticed that the bracket on the down pipe was cracked. I did a search to see if anyone else found this problem and I found this:

On this thread they talked about just welding a bead down it for a fix (like the dealer would) but my question is:
Do I need a special wire in my mig to weld this or can I use the standard steel wire in my feed?
I'm a pretty good welder but by far a novice. I'm confident I can put a good bead on it but want to use the right material for strength. I think someone mentioned stainless wire???

Thanks for the help in advance.

The pipe and the bracket are stainless. If you use carbon steel wire you may not only get a bad fusion, but it will be very prone to corrosion and cracking either side of the bead. I'd use stainless wire and the right cover gas. Any welding on the engine carries a risk of damaging electronics. If you don't disconnect both batteries before welding, make darn sure your ground is as close to the weld as possible and clamped clean & tight.

Ok well that makes me very nervous about welding it myself. But I would be afraid that the dealer wouldn't take the proper percautions either. Is it too much of a PITA to take that pipe out with the bracket and weld it outside the truck?

I just had a weird noise start coming from the passenger side floor board, like it almost sounds like something is hitting the floor but its not very loud. IT is noticoable at an idle and very hard to here while driving but its still there. This could be whats wrong with mine, I will check it here pretty quick.

You pretty much have to remove the transmission to take the down pipe out.

Nope that was not the noise I'm hearing I have a different bracket than the one in the picture and mines not broke, but I still have the noise and can't find anything.
