Just bought an 07 GMC from GA, and I don't see an option in the DIC for elevated idle... Dealer says the programming is the same regardless of location... They told me it might just take time for the truck relearn and the DIC to show elevated idle...

How much bullshit are they feeding me.

I had the option on my '07 Classic LBZ for something to do with elevated idle. Don't know if that's what you're talking about or not.

yeah i sure did... and yeah i'm talking about elevated idle during warm up not the high idle option using the DIC. Dealers are ignorant... I'd rather them tell me they dont know and they'll find out, than to make up some retarded bullshit like that....

What is this new elevated idle during warm that you are talking about then??

Just to clarify, ELEVATED IDLE is for warming truck up in cold weather at idle. HIGH IDLE option deals with something totally different from the DIC, it's something that can be done with the CC switch, but I don't think it's available on the 07.5's as posted earlier. It's an option from the factory, truck either has it or doesn't. Father in law doesn't have the elevated idle show up on DIC, I followed the steps in the owner's manual. Turned it on that way. Something with the brakes and go pedal. Sorry I don't have the exact step, but dealer is feeding you a BIG PILE of CRAP, truck won't relearn and suddenly show the option in the DIC. Father in law's truck is an LT, mine LTZ, mine shows up in DIC option menu. Chris

yeah to activate the Elevated Idle without the DIC option, key on, hold the gas pedal to the floor, pump the brakes 3 times, let off both, dash should read ELEVATED IDLE ON, then start the truck.

If it's cold enough outside and your coolant temp is below the threshold it will ramp the idle up to 1000rpm.

Actually it will lock 1st and reverse at the same time and stall the converter up to 1000 rpms. This warms the truck up MUCH faster than simply revving to 1000 rpms.

There was a rash of problems with Canadian trucks toasting the trann's when the elevated idle kicked on at temps below -30 and the trans fluid was still in jello phase. Trying to stall the converter with jello for lubricant tends to burn up stuff.
