As of now the SBC clutch is sh*t. I took it back out this weekend to send it back to peter to see what is wrong and from what I can see the clutch pads (its a butten clutch set up) are 2"X 2" (and I measured it so it is correct) and on the flywheel side 3/8" from the center of the clutch the pad is not making contact with anything and the PP side has alittle over 3/4" from the center of the clutch the pad is not making contact with anything and those pads are unevenly worn to boot. Meaning black in the middle and barley worn on the edges. It is made of two types of friction matterial and the side on the flywheel side has had a lot wore off it at only 1500 miles. I wonder if he sent me the wrong clutch? I guess I will find out if he stands behind his products or not with week. I sure hope he does $1200 is a lot to spend to be no better of than you were before. Also played with slave cyclinder and it slides freely so I know its not that.

Not to worry. Peter will get to the bottom of it. I've had the pleasure of dealing with Peter a few times and he is a stand up person.

Peter I'm sorry that this upsit you but I didn't say you or your company is sh*t and nor did I say it about all your produsts. As you told me on the phone I posted this thread by saying SBC PIECE OF SH*T I didnt I put that I had pulled junk SBC Maybe I should have put an a between pulled and junk but it was just my bad english. One not the whole company. So please understand was not slamming you I just say the clutch I had was "junk" in the fact it slips. I wish you would have got on here before when I was trying to get help about the clutch without haveing to pull it again and if you do a search you could see that I never bad mouthed you or even your clutch and when I first had problems with it I told people not to post crap about the clutch just things that could be helpful to me. So I did stand up of you so why post crap about you now? I just stated that the clutch I had was junk cause it slipped. I have $1200 in this set up and I didn't want to take a chance to mess up the DMF ( if it isn't already) and make it a $1700 set up. You woke me up with the call cause I work the grave yard shift at the truck shop so I couln't really think of anything to say cause I couldn't remember if I said that or not but I didn't think that I did. I never hear of a DMF going out in 200 miles not that I think it could never happen but that is when it started slipping at half throtte. But your right it could be it it was I just had never see a clutch with pads the never were used and have that be the way it was suppost to me. You guys are loseing money by making the much if and over lap of material. I was told that the flywheel raddles when it gos bad and there is no raddles from it just slipping. It is cheaper to talk to you on here that for me to keep calling on cell. I hope you read this so you know that if I did indeed left a bad post that this can make it clearer but this clutch problem is not a good deal for either of us just the differnce is you still have you vehicle to drive and I'm out my beloved truck for now. Well the best to all and hope this gets worked out.

Thanks
Nathan

Did you do this using the hydraulics of the slave or manually depress it on the shaft? If you manually manipulated it you may have damaged the slave. Deadeye went through this first hand a couple of weeks back when we were working on his clutch. We ended up replacing the slave and all is working now. We are not sure internally what causes this to happen to the slave, but via this hard lesson we now have one to tear apart and look at. Just thought I would let you know since we learned the hard way.
