Ok Crazy new direction on a project I'm thinking of. Really need some input from the experienced tech's. I'm wanting to pull the LBZ motor and the ZF-6 transmission and put them into a 1984 GMC 3500 single cab dually. What will I need to do this. How much am I going to need to invest into this, What will I need to change on the truck, and what will I need to take from the newer truck to add with the tranny and motor.

I know ford's do alot of cummins swaps and they don't complain about the switch so wandering how difficult it will be to do so with the same manufacturer just twenty years difference. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what cost would be, but the biggest thing against a conversion of that matter was the computer. Stacy David had a show on a stand alone computer system from PPE that he used on his international truck project. No finding wiring and computer from donor vehicle. Plus the engine made 600 horse!!!!!!
