Hello All,
Just test drove a 2006 with the allison 6 speed. Night and day different from my 2005. Throttle response smooth as silk no surging or bucking. No more engine mounted computer to fire the injectors and a new grid heater in the intake. Air filter is different but that is about all I could visually see different. Don't jump into a 2006 yet. Third quarter of this year the duramax is going to be beefed up more hp and torque no more lly will be a lbz. I loved it really significant changes on throttle response. Wish now I would have waited a year.

Cushmanman:exactly: Ok so the first 06's will have the 6 speed tranny, but won't get the high horsepower and torque untill the last quarter of 05 right?

That's what I hear, it will be a mid model year changeover to the LBZ.

Ok , so does the 06 with the LLY/6spd. ally, take the same chip that my 04.5 LLY has?? That may make the difference wether i wait for the LBZ (with no chips out yet) or get one now!! Also do i understand correct that the good deals are only for the 05 models?? Thanks

You know that you can change the doors to not lock automatically right?

it's in your owners manual for changing some of the options that you don't like.

I think I read somewhere that it will hold to 900 or 950 lbs of torque.

Cushmanman,
In reference to you mentioning the heater grid on the intake, does that mean no more glow plugs or is this in addition to them, to assist in starting the engine?

Nevermind... I just read about the "New glow-plugs reduce start time by as much as 50 percent" in another post.

Can't on '05s!
