: Dpf Tuners
chrisdagge 12-06-2010, 10:33 PM what are my options, i have a lmm dually and want to try a diffrent tuner in it about 10 times a year i pull a 15,000 pound trailer with it so i need something that might help out with the mpgs, and the rest of the time i just use it to racer around the streets and tracks right now im running a bully dog tripple dog is there anything better out there?
AlligatorPerformance 12-06-2010, 10:47 PM There are plenty of tuners out there better than the Bully Dog. You've got a couple that work with the DPF, and some that don't. If you're keeping the DPF, I'd look into the PPE Standard or Banks 6 gun. If you want to get rid of it, there are so many more choices, with typical economy gains for 3-4 mpg's. I'd suggest the PPE Hot Race or Edge CS or CTS Race for both power and economy. We have tons of options to choose from, PM me or give me a shout at the shop if you want to get in depth with this.

D/AChris 12-08-2010, 12:04 PM PPE standard or Banks 6 gun as Chad mentioned are popular choices when keeping DPF. Chris

Gm will be able to tell that truck was programmed you might as well get rid of the dpf at the same time.IMHO
chrisdagge 12-09-2010, 10:12 PM i took it in and removed my bullydog and pulled the fuses they told me to pull and nothing came up on the computer, and im basiclly looking for a tuner i can tow with and then switch it up to burn some rubber
which tuner puts out the most power?
which tuner give the best mpg's?
i wouldnt mind having two tuners im nostly intrested in the power part
firefyter7 12-09-2010, 10:41 PM I'm curious which fuses they told you to pull chrisdagge? That could be good information when I take my truck to the dealer.
chrisdagge 12-09-2010, 10:47 PM there in the bullydog handbook ill go down to my truck tomorrow and ill let you know, and the dealer hasnt said anything about a tuner when i took it for them to look at the dpf error
BullyDogJason 12-09-2010, 11:09 PM its recommended to pull tbc ign1, tbc batt, radio, info.
Personally i only pull them on the lly and lb7 duramaxs. never pulled any fuses on my own truck, or lmms ive installed on. I just make sure i leave the radio, heater and lights all off when im downloading.
Down8 12-31-2010, 02:01 AM So pulling these fuses is not relevant to LMMs?

PigGuy 12-31-2010, 11:05 AM chris - not sure what or if you decided anything here, but I have a PPE Standard Xcelerator I'm considering selling. PM if you're interested.
chrisdagge 12-31-2010, 06:06 PM i think im gonna stick with bully dog there suppoesd to comeout with a new tune
leros 01-01-2011, 10:34 AM It wouldn't matter what fuse you pull on an LMM, you can even pull the batteries out of the truck! GM has made the computer (ECM, TCM) to store the info they need to see if you have been running a tuner or not, things like HP output and torque values. If they suspect that you have been tuned then they dig to get the info they need to be able to deny warranty work, especially if it's a big ticket item to be repaired. The OP's truck probably "looks" mostly stock so there probably isn't a reason for them to look deeper.
It's too bad a tuner company like EFI Live couldn't add a section in their software to delete these dealer tell tails and allow the user to log in the needed regens. But then that would probably be breaking the law wouldn't it? ;)

Taking it in for minor service doesn't mean there was nothing to be detected. There was likely no reason to check.
Of the LMM's that I have tuned, 99.9% do a DPF removal, but I do have a couple that have kept it in place. I haven't really heard any complaints about Regen, MPG, or lack of performance. I tend to rate my HP levels much more conservatively than most.
