about two weeks ago I had a heater hose break on the top of the motor from the EGR to a steel heater coolant line on the front of the motor. I got towed home and changed out that 4" peice of hose the next day. Ever sense then my heater has been messed up big time. It is 40* today and I have driven at least 20 miles and the heat is still acting weird. When the temp gets to 210 I will get heat but as soon as the thermastat opens up and the temp drops to 160-180 my heater blows cold air again until my temps get back up to 210* again. This is very hard on my kids what is going on guys???

I'd say make sure you have all the air purged out, first. Run it like normal and shut it down for the evening. The next morning, go outside and pull the rad cap to see if it takes a big gulp of fluid. Then top it off.

you have an air lock in the lines and sometimes these are frustrating to get purged out. do as suggested and keep checking the level and top it off. theres a number of tricks that can be model specific. some one should jump in here thats solved this issue with these trucks

That is what is going on for sure because when I drive the truck for a while it tells me low coolant. What sucks is that you have to wait till the pressure is off the system to fill it with coolant. I drove 30 miles this morning in 30* with zero heat in the truck, thank god for seat heaters.

Can't you put coolant in the coolant reservoir and let it get sucked in when it cools down? It seemed to work for me.
