I have an 03.5 6 Speed with a steel drive shaft, a friend of mine has an 03 auto with an Aluminum drive shaft. My Dad has an 02.5 Auto with a Steeldrive shaft. Yes these are all Duramaxs but does any one know why this is? Thanks

I had a 2-piece steel shaft in my '01 2500HD, but I was having the infamous 'shuddering' when I started towing my 5th wheel. After an extensive search, I found that the dealer wanted about $700 for an OEM shaft. I found a guy off of Ebay that builds aluminum shafts. I gave him the part number off of my friends 2003 CC/SB and he built me an exact OEM Spicer referenced aluminum shaft delivered for about $250. Guess what, no more shuddering.
