I think I may be officially out of luck. I went to get in my suburban to go grab dinner and couldn't open my drivers front door. I called oreilleys and had them set one aside for me, but as I went to get out, the interior handle snapped off in my hand...there is no way for me to open my door...does anyone have any suggestions?

:welcome2: sorry about the bad circumstances for arriving here. I've had broken doors, I got in and out through passenger side. PIA, but what can you do. if you can get a pair of vise grips or something on the interior lever that the handle moves, matbe you can get it open to change it out

Haha...I can't leave my windows down, I have alot of money wrapped up in my stereo...
I'm guessing I'll probably have to cut out part of my door panel to access the rod...

isn't there a plastic insert around the inside door handle? I think you can pop that piece out an maybe get better access to the rod connected to the inside handle - and hopefully get a pair of pliers on it an pull it.
There are a couple of big phillips head screws holding your door panel on that you should be able to access with the door closed and give yourself a little room by taking them out.

I took my door apart while it was closed. Not alot of fun. Had to warp the top of the door panel with the window down. reached inside and got it to unlatch.dont try it out in the cold. I climbed in throught the passenger door and drove to a warm shop to do it. Get the new inner door handle from Oriellys while your there If you haven't broke it yet you will before its apart.took about 5 hours total. once the door is finally open its about a 45 minute job to finish.

It's a 99. I've tried to remove the panel and it seems impossible. I think the best way is going to be Dakota dave's idea; warping the top and trying to work the mechanism between the panel and inner door skin with the window down. Thankfully I have scrawny arms...lol

Slim jim on the handle rod works well, just push down, once you've unlocked it.
