So I'm hopefully goin to be gettin my first duramax come spring going to be an LMM. Debating on if I want to get a PPE for it or not. I'm still pretty new to the diesel world espically when it comes to programmers, so bear with me on stupider questions I will probably ask. I dont want the fastest truck in town but would like a truck that has a repuation of being able to hold its own against other diesels in town. Which is one reason why I just wana go with a few upgrades. Like the PPE, exhaust, etc like I was sayin just get a few things done to make my truck be able to hold its own against others. What little I know bout the PPE is that as long as a stay under 90hp Ill be fine with a stock allison. If I want more I should upgrade to something like a suncoast. Dont really want a EFI cause I dont want to deal with the laptop. Maybe I'm in the wrong though maybe I dont really need the PPE to accomplish what I want?

From what I want to accomplish what would you guys reccommend I do as far as adding HP to my truck?

Thanks,
Luke

I've been running the PPE since my truck was about new. Absolutely love it. You can be tame with it, or if your craving power, run the higher levels like I do. With your factory trans you can run level 3 without any problems. I ran level 4 for quite some time, but when I did my trans, some of the factory clutches were showing signs of being burnt. The PPE will allow you to change tire size, rear-end ratios, top speed limiter and with the PPE Hot+2 Race, you can delete your DPF. After running the Race one for a while, I went back to the standard Hot+2. As you can see from my signature, the Hot +2can make plenty of power. PPE has great customer service, which is another plus. You will see from reading all the different threads on this fabulous site, that there are many different products out there for our trucks. Just read through what many people are using, their opinions on the products they're using, and any problems they have or have not encountered. It will steer you towards a product you will want to buy and use. Good luck......time to shop for that ride.

I've been running ppe tuners for awhile now. On my 10 lmm it has been set a 225hp for some time now. (stock tranny)
Power is smooth and comes on strong after 2200 rpm, barely blows any smoke(no dpf). Boost maxes out at 36 psi for short periods of time.
My fuel milage has not changed much with programmer, level 3 seems to be best for milage.

PPE does real well. The power IS very addicting <<< be careful with that stock trans. anything over level 2 and its only a matter of time before you spend BIG bucks on trans upgrades. I run level 2 all the time and have had no problems towing or ETG issues. The higher tunes will give you a tad more mileage but you will find yourself using the power .
knowing what I know now and if I didn't want to go with EFI live I would look at PPE or the Edge for programmers. Still like the PPE Hot Race +2 best if your going to quit running the DPF, etc.

Alright liking what I'm hearing so far bout the PPE. Ill have to look into the Hot +2/ Hot Race +2. I'm planning on doin the DPF delete.

Nother question bout the tranny though how much more HP is the Transgo Jr Kit rated to handle?
If I was to make the upgrade do a better tranny like a suncoast how much money am I lookin at after its all said and done?
