: Does Banks Add Their Own Top Speed Limiter?
Justin9212 11-30-2010, 12:21 PM I have the Banks iQ Six-Gun Speed-Loader setup. Before I had the Banks kit on the truck I had the top speed limit removed with HP Tuners, now it's back since I put the Banks kit on. I can't make it down the 1/4mile without topping out. It's pretty lame. Why does Banks even have a 1/4 mile program if they are going to limit me from making it to the end before cutting power?

It seems the statment above goes from asking if we do to declaring we do. The six gun only limits for trans temp, trans slip, egt and excessive boost. There is no speed limit and, in fact, the six gun doesn't even look at truck speed.
Justin9212 12-01-2010, 12:08 PM That is not accurate. The Six-Gun iQ does look at speed, even if you say it does not limit speed it does surely look at it. It has speedo correction and top speed alert settings.
So let me re-word my question.. Does it remove, add, or change the top speed limiter at all?

The sixgun is not a programmer so it does not remove, add or change the speed limiter. If it would Bank would sell more units. When their programmer units come out this will be possible, but not with a harness box style...
CRASHNBURN 12-01-2010, 01:11 PM I reread your post.. Put the hptuner tune up with the speedlimitor remove & then put the Banks unit on. Speed limitor is gone then..

It's getting the speed reading from the GPS reciver in the iQ not the truck. The six gun doesn't look at speed at all and has no top speed limiter.
Justin9212 12-01-2010, 01:29 PM I can take that it has no speed limiter (and I'm past that), but If it has no control on the speedo at all, then how does it know how far off my speedometer is from the GPS indicated speed, and allows me to do a speedometer calibration?

The iQ is doing that not the six gun. It gets the correct speed from the GPS reciver and compares it to the number reading from the OBDII port. The six gun has nothing to do with it.

As far as I have seen, the factory speedo doesn't get recalibrated...only the Banks IQ does.

Yeap, that is how it works. You would need a programmer to reprogram the truck itself.
LARIDERS 12-02-2010, 11:31 PM so if I want to take off my speed limter I need to programe the computer. Can I just change a few things without adding any more power?

Yes, with HP Tuners or EFI Live you can change whatever you like.
colt49 12-04-2010, 09:21 PM PPE lets you raise speed, timing, and rpm enough to satisfy alot of guys if you chase their menus to read on it. Not bad but not EFI.

Did you install it or have someone install it ??
Most shops will remove all other tunes prior to installing something else.

I'm going to correct you on this..
unless I am wrong and If I am I will eat my hat but likely woll have found my issue..
I once and a while loose speedo (Truck) When this happens I loose Speedo on the IQ.
Also if the IQ wasn't looking at truck speed why would it bring up a non active or out VSS ??
So Yes the IQ reads truck speed :p:

I installed them myself, both the HPTuners tune and the Banks kit.
