So I went to dealer and had my first oil change at 3500 miles and everything was done. So this morning I go out and start truck to get it worm, now there is a ticking sound( sounds like its in the oil pan) untill it gets about 200* and it goes away. The temp outside was around 30. Any ideas?

Same problem here. I did first oil change and bam there it is. It is supposedly normal. search "typewriter tick" Many threads on it.

Yeah I looked up the typewriter post and I though my noise was different. But is could be the same.

I believe its caused by bubbles in the oil or something. I've had 3 Dmax's and they have all done it, The LBZ I have now seems to have stopped, but my truck idles at 600 rpms instead of 700 so this may help with the noise.

Some say they notice it less or more with different brands of oil or synthetics. But most heard after an oil change.

That noise has been there for the 10 years i have been working on them, and it isn't going away as it is normal. have a look around for info, its gotta be the most common topic, maybe after lb7 injectors...

I just got a truck 2 weeks ago and mine did it really loud. It went away with 2500 miles on it, I changed the oil(Rotella) and bam, it is back loud as day one.

The experts say this noise is preasent in allot of diesels but you dont here it because most diesels make so much clatter it drowns it out.

My 02 ticks after every oil change but goes away after about 1,000 miles. That is even quicker since I started using AMSOil. It used to take 2,000 miles when I used Rotella. Now I change oil every 15,000 miles so it is a while before I have to hear it. I am surprised they still do it even after they have been making the 6.6 for 10 years now.
