Have they added the tailgate lock that locks/unlocks from the fob along with the doors?
Do they still use the separate key and fob, or is it all-in-one like EVERY other vehicle manufacturer?!
How is the factory Nav? Obviously a Garmin is better, but is it still good enough to use regularly? I know it's not the best, but does it work properly, take you the fastest way, etc. I want the nav mostly for the bigger backup screen, and I like touch screen better than buttons!
Can you view the backup cam in reverse only, or is there a way to view it whenever?
Thanks for the help!:)

Hi Ryan......Your about 6 miles from me...LOL Do you have a brother Matt??

Have they added the tailgate lock that locks/unlocks from the fob along with the doors?I just got my new 2500 LML two weeks ago and it has a seperate key for the tailgate lock. Kinda sucks as my Avalanche that I traded in had the fob lock for tailgate.

Do they still use the separate key and fob, or is it all-in-one like EVERY other vehicle manufacturer?!Yup....Fob and a key. Key for ignition and fob for doors and remote start and panic alarm!

How is the factory Nav? Obviously a Garmin is better, but is it still good enough to use regularly? I know it's not the best, but does it work properly, take you the fastest way, etc. I want the nav mostly for the bigger backup screen, and I like touch screen better than buttons!

The factory NAV is Great. I had it before and loved it. Works 100%. If you saw a Factory Nav that was taking you the fastest route....it may have had an old cd disk in it. You can buy the latest disks for the old ones.....and of course the 2011 does come with the latest disk.

Can you view the backup cam in reverse only, or is there a way to view it whenever? The backup cam works only when in reverse. I would suggest keeping the truck stock so as not to loose your factory warranty esp with the Diesel.

Great truck....you'll love have the strongest truck on the road:)

JMO, but, go with a Retrax rolling bed cover. MUCH better than a Roll-N-Lock!!!

Looks like most of your questions have been answered. I will chime in on the factory Navigation:

It is great, only had the truck a month but I have used the Nav extensively. I still don't know all the functions, it is a learning process. I would not buy a vehicle without Nav, and if you live in any city or suburb, the traffic function is XLNT. I have had Nav in every car and truck since 2002, this is by far the best.

Hi Ryan......Your about 6 miles from me...LOL Do you have a brother Matt?? Yeah! Who is this?

Kinda sucks as my Avalanche that I traded in had the fob lock for tailgate. I thought they had it on the Av's. I wonder why they don't add it to the pickups?

Do they still use the separate key and fob, or is it all-in-one like EVERY other vehicle manufacturer?!Yup....Fob and a key. Key for ignition and fob for doors and remote start and panic alarm! That's what I figured!

Where did you get yours? Brian Cullen, David Chev? What are the details on yours(trim level, cab size, box length, options)? Did you get a good deal on it?

Ryan...How do you like the Roll N lock cover?? Any problems?? Anything better out there??

I like it. I have had a few little issues over the year or two I've had it, but nothing major/important. I got mine from the guy on Hwy 20, BTW. It has opened once or twice on it's own, but I'm almost positive it's because it wasn't latched properly. It also lets a little bit of water in, although it is supposed to be 100% waterproof, or so they claim! I'd say it's about 95% waterproof.

I looked into the Retrax, but it didn't look like it would last very long and that thin shiny black plastic looked like it would get brittle/crack/fade from the sun/weather. I don't have any proof of this, but that's what it looked like to me.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to get some pricing on the LML's, and to get a trade-in value. If it doesn't add any value to the trade(which I don't think it will), I'll take it off and put it onto the LML. If they do add a reasonable amount to the trade, I'll look into all options for the next truck, but I'm 90% sure I'll get another RNL.

JMO, but, go with a Retrax rolling bed cover. MUCH better than a Roll-N-Lock!!!

See above....

Thanks for the reply. I did some searching also on here, and there are a bunch of people who said exactly what you did, so I've made up my mind! Nav it is.:)

Just some info on the Retrax. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where last year we were the coldest place on the entire earth for a couple of days. The Retrax performed flawlessly for the 6 years I had it. NO cracking, fading, or scratching. And it's not as thin as you think, as it is double layer with large air gap in between. I'd say it's near 1/2 inch think.

I should be getting my truck tues. or wed, and will most definitely be putting a Retrax on in the near future. Any more questions, pm myself or Max Power.

^^^Sounds good, I was at the dealer today. The tonneau cover won't be worth anything to them, so I'll just take it off and put it on the next one if I trade it. BUT....they're not offering me much money on trade, so I'm trying to sell it privately, and then run the deal through them so I still save the taxes. I've lowered the price so I think it should sell pretty quickly.

On the other hand, I am very happy with the current offers they'll give me. I get Option 1(or option A, whatever they call it), and if I order it, I get $10,000 off just from that. Plus the current $6000 rebate, plus another $1000-1500 for some other rebate. $17,000 off sticker...I can't complain about that! So now, I'm just waiting for a few calls back on trade-in value, or to see if I can sell it privately. Stay tuned!

I opted out of the factory nav with my truck. I don't like it, my fathers '10 LMM has it and you couldn't pay me to use it. The Garmin built into my last Kenwood Unit is 10x better than the factory stuff.

I have a family member that OWNS a dealership, and the best I could do was $14,500 off. Not sure how you got 17G.

I have a family member that OWNS a dealership, and the best I could do was $14,500 off. Not sure how you got 17G.

Option 1 Order - $10,000
Current Rebate - $6,000
Finance Cash Credit(or something like that) - $1000

If you get it before Jan. 1st, you also get $1000 Christmas cash. But the odds are, I won't because it is about 6 weeks to get a new one, and the plant is off for a week in Dec., so it'll be more like 7 or 8 weeks. If I buy one off the lot, it is $1500 more than ordering it, but I get the Christmas Cash, so it'll only be $500 more total. And another thing....when ordering a new one, you are guaranteed the current deal AT LEAST, but if the rebates get higher, you get the best deal within the time it takes for delivery. The salesman said I probably won't get the Christmas cash, but the odds are there will be something else by the time I get my truck and that one is over. He said it would be around the same amount. So realistically, I'll be getting around $18,000 off sticker. Hopefully my truck will sell for $36,000, and I'm going to run the sale through the dealer so I can save over $4500 worth of tax. So technically I'm getting around $40,000 for my truck. And one other thing to keep in mind, this truck is loaded and has a sticker of $75,000. The Option 1 is a percentage, so that is why it is so high of a discount($10,000).

$75,000 - $18,000= $57000
$57,000 - $36,000= $21,000
$21,000 + tax(13%)= $23750

I still owe money on my current truck, so that will add to the loan, but I'm thinking I'm going to make out pretty well.:)

My truck was 2003 Lt duramax short box extented cab.
Sold the truck in one day for $7000.00 more than Davids would give me.

Actually it's funny you mention that! I was in David Chev and Mel was the guy I talked to. When I told him what truck I wanted, he said he just brought in 2 of the exact same one's! He started telling me about your trip, fuel mileage, showed me pictures of your running boards(I knew I recognized them from somewhere!). He also knew his stuff about the new trucks, every other dealer didn't know much about them at all. How long did it take for you to get yours? 6 weeks?

He knows that, he was asking if it would work through the fob and also if the was still a key and fob rather than an all-in-one.

To be honest, I prefer having to use the key to unlock the tailgate. Less chance of it malfunctioning. The 2011 3500s are very sweet trucks, let us know what spec you order.
