: When did your LML first regen?
tjZ06 11-25-2010, 12:38 PM My first regen happened yesterday (as indicated by the high-idle and smoke from the hood-vents http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif ) at around 120 miles. This seems pretty early to me. I'm at 400 miles now, and that I can tell it hasn't regen'ed again.

cowboywildbill 11-25-2010, 12:42 PM That sounds pretty soon. I think our first was around 800 miles. We had towed the first 450 before that. I had a second regen at 1600 miles.
And No smoke. Thank goodness.
Kevin8520 11-25-2010, 12:56 PM First one was around 600 miles. No smoke, but I had elevated idle and truck sounds a little different when it regens.
GMC Denali HD 11-25-2010, 01:50 PM New on 11/1 and have about 1200 miles of both around town and highway use, if I had a regen I didn't notice it although I think one of my highway trip the mpg was down a bit. Certainly no smoke out the hood vents.
I must be having too much fun driving to pay attention, should I have already had a regen?
6804gto 11-25-2010, 07:17 PM Mine just went thru the first regen @ about 420 miles. Noticed the smoke out of the vents & fuel mileage suffered also. I am going to call my dealer tomorrow & ask if the smoke is normal or if there is a update as discussed on another thread on this site.
Coltxxxxv 11-25-2010, 07:45 PM I noticed regens taking place give or take every 450 miles. The mileage is still better than my LMM which regened about every 300 miles. That being said I'm happy with that, seems normal enough to me.
Ahhh….i remember my first regen….she was a cute little blond in ,,,oh wait…..not that.
Don't know in my 10…trying to get into a 11 and i will let you know…lol..
cowboywildbill 11-26-2010, 11:16 AM Hey KGT, about your first regen. Were you saying She was just too hot to handle?:D LOLMaybe some of them are just "SMOKIN HOT"!!!
mbumgua 12-22-2010, 01:07 AM First regen that I noticed was about 2500 miles. Only indication was mileage dropping by 2mpg going down the road.
Duramax-LMM 12-23-2010, 01:08 PM I watched for every regen on my DashHawk for like 2 years and 20,000 miles now........ Every 400 miles or so for an LMM........ Decided this year to get off that band wagon and just get in the habit of checking EGT's before turning her off.
Pretty easy to hear a regen around town anyway with the BANKS muffler deleted tail pipe, higher RPM's and the burnt rubber smell.
Ooh, that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, that smell
The smell of death surrounds you, yeah
purogto32 12-23-2010, 03:01 PM might be a stupid question, but what is a regen?

When the truck burns the soot out of the DPF filter to keep it from clogging up.
GMC Denali HD 12-23-2010, 04:51 PM My LML has about 1380 miles on the clock and for the first time I actually smelled a foul odor, but only after I stopped and got out and walked past the engine compartment. Big friggin deal......my MPG varies on traffic and terrain so it is hard to tell if a slight MPG drop is caused by the regen function. Yesterday on the freeway in the rain and I was getting 20.2 at 60 MPH and saw a drop to 17.2 for about ten minutes, then it went back up to 19.6. Not hand calculated and I reset the meter as I entered the freeway. So far when I have done hand calcs the meter is high about 3% to 4%.
I am guessing that the truck has maybe had three regens since new, aevrage about every 450 miles driven. On a side note, I still have not gotten the DEF notice on the dash and the dealer only added 2 gallons to the factory 2 gallons.

And to answer your next question.......DPF means diesel particulate filter.
Search button is right up top!!!
My first regen was 400 miles. DEF message popped up around the same time......guess the dealer forgot to fill it!
