How long will diesel fuel be good for if it is stored in a 500 gallon tank? Is there any additive that will help it out?

Thanks

I read a post a while ago that its indefinate. Maybe not literally but have heard the shelflife is a long long time. This of course depends on keeping moisture out of it and other contamination (so bacteria won't grow). If the 55 gallon drums are protected and sealed I would say years of shelf life with no ill effects.

There are additives for bulk treatment carriers and truck stops use to keep tanks clean. Some are the same as the typical off the shelf stuff everyone uses and I am sure there are others for comercial applications.

In comparison gasoline shelf life is much much shorter. Heard once something like after 30 days gas will start deteriorating. But it will still work for automobiles for much longer.

I would just put a good additive in it and keep the moisture out like schiker said. Water is the enemy here
