Hey all. I am having a problem with my '93 6.5 engine. This model is the oddball with the mechanical injection pump I believe (db-2). If it was the db-4, I would have blamed the PMD, but I cannot. The thing normally would just pump out tons of white smoke when cold and that would be it for terms of oddness, but now I've got a new issue altogether. If I open the throttle fully, im not getting any power... It sounds like its not getting enough fuel or something. The fuel filter was changed right after this started occuring, as I believed maybe it was clogged or something. This started happening one day during use. Any clue what I should check. The truck as 193,500+ miles on it. Any suggestions? Weak lift pump? Bad mechanical injection pump??

have you checked the lift pump output, and are you getting a little or a lot of black smoke acceleration, WG may not be working, same troubleshooting in FAQs for electonic IP would apply here as it does seem like a fuel or low boost problem.

Some bathroom material in FAQ's. The thread 'bout turbo, and the lift pump/OPS.

I was also going to suggest the lift pump or OPS. They caused me to have a ton of white smoke at start up and intermittent sluggish power.

White smoke at start up, if only at startup could just be a glow plug (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/...ad.php?t=39182)issue too.
The direct link to the turbo bathroom literature is here (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39368) - along with the lift pump/OPS. (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39350).

Thanks for your help, time and info. While I was driving, I started thinking about how I had a ton of black smoke while I was losing power. Thanks to the info on the lift pump, etc, I concluded my lift pump was ok, and I had a hunch from the smoke that I should check my air flow. The filter wasnt that old, but I decided to pull it out, and behind it, further down inside, by the part that bends into the fender area, was a bunch of leaves and a huge bug. I removed this stuff and changed the filter again, and now I seem to be ok. Thanks a million!!! Im going to have to come up with a place to install a screen or something to prevent that from happening again, but in the meanwhile, I'll just make more of an effort to check that at filter change intervals.
