What's a gms pin?

I'm not sure what GMS actually "stands for", but it means employee pricing. If you or a family member works or has worked for GM you get a discount.

GMS is a supplier discount. GM employee might be GMX mot sure.

unless somethings changed since i did it with my 09, gmsupplier is basically invoice and true gms is like 5% below and $75 max on the dealer fee. Ive seen guys on the forums handing them out like candy when sales are slow per their bosses requests and then ive seen times like this where they are as rare as hens teeth.

i got a pin from my long lost grandpa on craigslist in detroit last time but now my ad keeps getting zapped.

guy thanks for the suggestions but NOTHING will get pricing to the price of gms. it simply wont happen, there is no magic money anywhere and dealers arent in business to loose money. if there is magic money you still get it with gms anyway

gms = preferred pricing right?

educate me, cos i've bought GM for 10 + yrs.. i'm only 30, and i have always gotten preferred pricing via my credit union.

GMS is the GM employee and retiree pricing, which is below dealer invoice. It can be used with rebates and other incentives. It is against the rules to share with anyone outside the family of the employee. Also, you cannot sell the vehicle bought under GMS for 6 months.

That's exactly what I thought it was.....

So, you CAN use it along with other rebates??? Just making sure.:)

Back in 08, you could give that pin number to friends as well. I believe they are more relaxed with the pins now since a vehicle sold is a vehicle sold. GM always makes their cut its the dealers that don't get as much.

I got this email 1.5 months after I got my LMM:

You can still share the codes with "friends" & "family."

We're all brothers of the Diesel Place, no?

You guys are referring to two different things. GMS=Employee/Retiree Discount, GSU=Supplier Discount. You cannot share GMS outside of the family of the GM employee/retiree. You can share the pin number for GSU with whoever you want though.

And for the record.....you can use GMS along with the current rebates. I got $16k off my LML, $10,000 from GMS and $6,000 from the rebates.

You get alot better GMS than I do. I only get $3626 Might have to move to Ontario

You're 100% correct. I went back & saw the GSU on my purchase. Perfectly logical acronyms, huh? :)

The discounts are a lot higher in Canada but so is the MSRP. The sticker on my truck was $77,000

Where do you get $16,000?
You started off at $53,050 and you ended up paying $45,924.
That equals a discount of only $7,126. Nowhere near $16,000.

When I bought my truck I received a discount of $10,000 including all rebates and incentives.
MSRP.....................$56,700
Price before fees:.....$47,700

That is the going rate for all Duramax trucks at this dealership, but you have to order.

The top of the part of that post(the part that is in red below) is from my post. Ramblinrodney just didn't quote it properly. I got $16k off, and yes, it appears he got $7000 off. That's why he said he should move to Ontario.......(to get 16k off, instead of 7k)

And yours would be $9000, not 10.....unless you made a mistake with the numbers.

No, I had to up north just east of Modesto, if you've heard of BFE, this place is 80 miles past there in town called Jamestown. Glendora Chevrolet couldn't come within $5,000 of the price I got my truck for.
