I just got my Overhead Mount from Trippin. Was curious how that plastic piece where it mounts comes out. I've tugged and pried on that thing and it won't budge.

What is the locking device like on the back?

Any clues to help me get this out without breaking it would be appreciated.

There are several points (tabs) where the black plastic insert is heat-welded into the overhead console plastic piece.

I drilled these weld points out and easily removed the black plastic insert.

On my '02, it pops out; no heat weld drilling necessary. Go to the corners, from the back side, with a small screwdriver, and do a little prying/twisting. It will come out.
