I am redoing alot of my stereo system in my truck doing 4x10's behind the seat vs 2x12's figuring 40" of air should be better then 24" and thinking of doing kick panels from q logic and moving my 5.25 components from the rear doors into there and putting a set of 3 way 6x9's in the rear door. Right now Everything is Orion P series I have 2x12's behind seat now 5.25 and tweet in rear door 6.5 and tweet in front door with another set of tweets in the pillars the truck RAILS now but I want more.

You will not have the air space for 4 10's without major modding. So you may not be any better off. 6's in the rear doors, 6 1/2's with a little modding, 6x9's with major modding. A 6x9 will not buy you anything over a 6.

I have a set of the Q-logic kicks if you want them (pics in garage). Are you going to do a 3 way system up front with a 6 1/2 midbass in the front doors?

Im not a stereo buff by any means but just for the record I have heard one 10" sub out perform setups that use multiple 10s 12s or 15s. I think one or two properly setup 10s would give you better results for less PITA and maybe less money.

Are component speakers not better than 3 ways??? I would put 6.5 components in the rear doors. Its a personal thing though, Im just not really a fan of 6x9s.

I've never liked ovals either. I fail to see how a 6x9, 5x7, or 4x6 is better than its equivelant round version in a component set.

6.5 > 6x9

This is my brothers L7 he has a 1500W amp behind it and kicks harder than any pioneer or sony of the same size. granted JBL, Rockford are better this is more than enough for his SUV. turned up it will make the rear glass flex.http://i715.photobucket.com/albums/ww158/unholydark/timsL7.jpg

Oh my back cab flexes hard now, the guy doing my 4x10 box has done quite a few and running the same P series 10 as my 12's hits so much harder its unreal been in the cab of his truck and that's why I'm upping ygr box plus I have more power then he has. So air space is not an issue on this setup all custom fiberglass just like the one in my truck. What do you want for the kick panels? The issue is finding the P series components the xtr are nice but not as nice and crisp and the hcca's would mean changing all my components as I like all matching hear. I have a set of P series 6x9s already and I know ovals aren't as crisp but they are louder and the rear needs more to keep up with the front now. I do have a set of c series 6.5s I could put in the back and move the 5s to the kicks and go from there. Btw running xtc speaker foams will make huge increase in your mid bass for anyone interested.

Sky high yes I agree in the right setup 1 sub can out do multi subs, I had an Acura years ago running 1 Earthquake Magma 12 that ruled the local competitions for about 2 years at 151.4 db I tried 2 lesser 12's at one point and barely got into the 140's my truck now hits 138.7db and the above said truck with the 4x10's hit a 144. If I remember correctly every 3 db is doubling the sound waves. He is running at 1ohm 1560 watts peak and right now I'm at 2ohm about 3/4 gain running 1436 watts so when I go to the 4x10 set up and drop to 1ohm I should easily push out 2300+ watts peak so I'm hoping to hit real close to 150 hopefully over with my 10s. I'd I max the gain at 2 ohm I've seen a reading of over 1700 watts but the subs start to bottom so we tuned it down. And the 800.4 running the mids and hi's is at 1/3 gain front and little less then 1/4 gain rear so the amp has way more in it but when tuning with the gauges that's was setting them all I'm just under peak input per s
peaker so u can run plenty more off it.

I dont mean to be a dick or anything but IMO that is a huge waste of space. I would have thought it was cool and wanted one when I was in high school but now I feel differently.

What is the size of that sucker? It looks like 18" or so.....

I'd like to fit the MTX 22s behind my seats. ;)

22's? Sounds like time to do a sick blow through quad vent into the cab with 2x10's just to keep up! That thing has to hit hard as hell but can't respond worth a darned. That's what ran me away from 15s back in the day. To slow couldn't imagine a 22 being fast without quad vent to more or less use another sub to help push it in or 5000watts. But itd be cool to see!!!

Gain is not a power switch. It is input sensitivity and needs to set set to match the head unit's preamp output voltage. You could be getting full rated output at 1/4 gain if the HU has high enough preout voltage. Turning the gain knob any higher than it's supposed to be will just cause a clipped signal and could damage the subs/speakers.

You could get a Kicker Warhorse to run them. Kicker is blowing the Warhorse out for $1000.

Yeah I realize that that is why we use a meter to tune it to get peak power out of everything!!!

So I ended up putting a set of 6.5 components in the back door's, so now I have a set of 5.25 components in the kick panels, 6.5 components in each door and a set of 1" Titanium Tweets in the pillars, then 2 12" subs behind the seats, let me just say its a concert in the truck everywhere I drive!!! 16 speakers in one cab!!! Can't wait to do my 4x12's then it will really rail, oh it does already but still!!!
