This is my first post. I just bought my 1st diesel 2 weeks ago and I am addicted already. Anyways I did the green key mod now when I go over speed bumps the suspension rebounds hard. Any suggestions or is that the way it is? Oh and I put Bilstiens all the way around. Bilsteins on the front are the 2" lift model.

Tom, have you checked your tire pressure? I forgot to do that, I assumed that the tire monkeys did it, but maybe not. It will rebound harder but that is the nature of the beast. Step up to the plate and do the 11" CST with dual King 2.5's on 38's and you won't feel the rebound as much!! :joke: :grd:

Also try slowing down to 45mph or less over the speed bumps.

Buddy of your's, Clint? sounds like you know him well....

Yes, with greens it'll rebound harder and harsher. Just the nature of the mod.

When you say rebounds hard do you mean harsh like very stiff or bouncey like a pogo stick? If it is bouncey then you are cranked too far and need to drop it down a bit. If it is harsh then you might check your tire pressure. If run them for almost 3 yrs in mine with stock shocks and I have no problems at all. Ride is about equal to 3-4 cranks on the stock keys which isn't bad. I did a comparison (twice) of stock keys cranked (1.5") vs green keys cranked (2.0") and the ride was better with the keys (noticably) so I left them in. I know all the "they do the same thing blah blah blah" and I agree with that until they are compared side by side on my truck.

OK, flame suit on. Check! Brain engaged. Sorta, check! Here goes.
I've used green keys on two D/A's, love it, and will install on my 06 when it arrives. No rebound, stock ride, level truck and heigth enough to clear hard off road use of 285x16 tires with a front bumper that weighs over 500lbs with winch (and Bilsteins). I install the green keys and set the adjustment bolts AT THE SAME AMOUNT OF THREAD EXPOSED THAT COMES WITH STOCK KEYS. By setting it this way, I do not get rebound, rough ride, wandering, or all that stuff that comes from cranked keys. I first tried cranking the stock keys to get cleanance for the tires, but did not like the rebound and ride. Tried green keys cranked up, and did not like the ride and rebounding. Put the adjustment bolts with the green keys back to position of stock, and it works great. Yes, I know - it does not make sense. I am not an engineer, just a Rube Goldberg type of idiot that makes things work in the extreme. Flame away. Then try it.

02 the Max's keys are set with the same amount of threads showing as the stock keys.

Hey I just bought the green keys and they are on their way does anybody know where stock is on the torsions? My tbars are already cranked to the max. Id like to get my stock ride back and keep the level look.

It kind of rebounds like a pogo stick when I creep over speed bumps. I'm not so sure I would want to hit it going fast. Other than that It rides great going down the road. I am total stoked other than that. Thanks so cal diesel tom.

Makes no sense. The green keys only have the hex hole rotated at a different position, same as turning the stock key by means of the bolt...... rotates the hex hole.

No matter how you slice it, it's the rear end of the torsion bar.... LOCKED in a position controlled by the rotation of the hex.

My only question in this is..... does the key ever lift off the adjuster bolt during fast hard suspension travel? How could you determine that? That would probably be the only explanation.

Like I said above if it bounces like a pogo stick then you have cranked it up too far. Back it down 1/4" at a time until you get a smooth stable ride.

Hoot - I totally agree. It makes no sense from a engineering standpoint nor a logical well though out standpoint. BUT IT WORKS! That's the Rube Goldberg standpoint - it works.

Thanks for all the input. I will see if the torsions will crank down a little.
What are you guys using for shocks with this mod?
