They are thinking about this and I personally like it.

DHRA INDEX SPORTSMAN CLASSES: Sportsman classes are structured to ensure that competitors are racing with true street driven or drive-able vehicles. Vehicles must appear stock outside and inside with very little equipment removed, they must retain headlights, taillights, horn and wipers in operating condition. DHRA reserves the right to make adjustments or allocations as deemed appropriate in the interests of fairness and in the spirit of competition. It is the driver's responsibility to know the rules in advance and comply. The DHRA, however, reserves the right to re-examine rules and implement changes at any time. All vehicles in the Sportsman class must drive back to pits under it’s own power.

QUICK DIESEL:
12.00 Index* at all DHRA Pro Street Shootout; Mini-National or National Events. This class uses a full countdown sportsman tree. *Member tracks may set their own index.

CLASS DESIGNATION: The class designation (QD) must be on the right side and the front window in 3-inch tall letters followed by membership number.

ENGINE: Any compression ignition engine.

DRIVELINE: Drive shaft loops mandatory. See ET Brackets for details.

NITROUS: All bottles must be securely mounted, stamped with minimum DOT-1800-pound rating, and identified as nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide bottle(s) located in driver compartment must be equipped with a relief valve and must be vented outside of the compartment. The system must be commercially available and installed per manufacturer’s recommendations. Commercially available, thermostatically controlled blanket-type warmers are acceptable. Any other external heating of bottle(s) is prohibited.

BODY: Stock car or truck body must be retained. Lightweight parts limited to hood, fenders and ground effects only.

TAILGATES: Tailgates must be up or off. Lowered tailgates are prohibited in all classes.

DELAY BOXES: Prohibited.

HELMET: Mandatory minimum Snell 95.

Indexed in that you cannot run faster than 12.0 or whatever you and your local track determine. Leaving the lights together, a race to the finish.

Perfect class for the daily drivers that are wicked fast. Fast enough to have fun. Slow enough to keep the trucks off the ragged edge for carnage. Should be a great budget class and provide the electronic vendors plenty of opportunities to showcase their products.

What does everyone think?

Me likey!!! But then it almost turns into a dam bracket race of running 12 flats without breaking out each run LOL

Sounds good, my truck is my only vehicle right now & a roll cage just isn't going to be worth it for 4 races a year, if I was willing to push it that far.

Yes, I know it's glorified bracket racing, but it's better than losing to a 20 second truck.

If it happens, should be alot of Dmax's competing, a good program or 2, stock turbo & injectors & some nitrous should land a 12.

Twins would be legal in this class as well?

I would think they'd be good or there won't be alot of Dodges running on #2.

Doh! Forgot the #2

Yep. You decide how you want to make your power. ;)

I think this class is perfect for the electronic trucks. The 12v's will have a harder time adjusting power levels during the day to compensate for conditions.

I expect you'll see the 2wd's not leaving as hard as the 4wd, then running them down to the finish. Should be exciting racing.

Index Racing would be a good thing. No, it's not perfect, but nothing is.

David, do you think there a future possibilty of more national events?
I know Eric is the one to really ansewer that, just wanted to get your opinion.

It would be nice to see them spread out alittle more, well maybe that's just my opinion being from the NorthEast, being that Indy & Bowling Green are the closest to here but being so far still.

I would love to see a regional series up here at say Lebanon Valley in NY, Pittsburgh is just aways for me & others in Easteren NY, New Jersey & New England. If you read this Eric, maybe an idea for the future.

I think it's really up to us. I think if we can generate the demand for an event it'll happen. We need more local racers in my area. I'm trying my best to get them to come out and race.

I agree, I want one near Atlanta too. :exactly:

How many racers do you have up there that would come?

I could probably get a number, just have to get the word out.
How many trucks does it take to get an event or actually series?
There's definatly a few from here, then you also have TDR & whatever is the big Ford site.

I'd drop Andy or Eric an e-mail or call him and see what you can work out.

Will do, I just figured I'd ask you first, cause you know more about this stuff than me. Thanks.

Yes, I lost running a 13.04 to a 19.94 because I cut a bad light.
More diesel racing is good. I would not mind seeing an index diesel class at my track. (US 131) But for now I'm glad to have the DHRA track street class.

Hey everyone,
As it has been mentioned its not perfect, but a different way of racing that will be a touch better than bracket racing and not quite as aggresive as head to head. It keeps the money situation at hand. The rules are left open to leave the options open for building power. And, this class will be opened up to the member tracks AND they can set their own index. Very neat, thanks David Dunbar for bringing this to me!
As far as National Events. They cost major dollars to put on so we carefully select were we go to. We are growing slowly so first we will have a mini-national in an area (a regional event). I will be at Virginia Motorsports Park in October to look at seeing if there is any interest. That event is October 15th and includes big rigs.

Eric, I would suggest a pro .500 tree.

1.) No delay boxes, because there is no top bulb to hit.
2.) It adds more difficulty to the race.

The VFN races in Terre Haute have proven that even seasoned drag cars won't run the 6.50 (1/8th mile) everytime. These cars leave on a .400 tree, but I don't think the 12 sec trucks could react quick enough for .400 tree.

Sounds like fun, but my race car seems to eat the go fast budget harder than my tow vehicle.

I think that may be something to shoot for once we have a solid class. We are taking most of these folks right from the ET Brackets. I like that idea though!

i dont like it,but then again i dont really like bracket racing, there are those that do and im sure it will be great for them.sounds like a lot of thecriteria are taken from pro street.wonder if they will get looked over just like pro street
