I need to ask for some advise / opinions.......
I just bought an '07.5 new body style GMC LMM crew with 145,000 miles on it and want to do some updates. We've owned an '06 LBZ for a couple of years now that was set up with 4" MBRP exhaust and pyro/boost gauges that we added a Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader to help improve mileage / and to play with. I'm really not needing the extra power..... although it is fun at times. I really do believe that our mileage has improved! The reason for the LMM purchase is that my wife has claimed that the '06 is "hers" from day one and i guess that means her Impala SS will be for sale. I now have a truck that i can call my own and need to play with it. It IS NOT a daily driver but may pull a 5th wheel camper and enclosed sled trailer from time to time. I went to visit our local truck accessories store and they are steering me towards Magnaflow exhaust (DPF delete) and an H & S tuner (either an XRT or mini max). Any opinions on that combination? I realize that the majority of members recommend EFI Live but i really don't think i will be messing with programming as our Triple Dog went in the console after playing with it the first week to decide on the best mileage setting and seldom comes back out. I cannot decide between 4" or 5" exhaust? (At only $100 difference, i may go 5".) My real dilemma with the programmer is that the mini max is about $300 more than the XRT and is that a better/more economical way to go than adding the gauge cluster for exhaust temp? I find that in our '06 i have to watch the pyro closely when headed down to Bristol in August pulling a 32 ft gooseneck camper and feel that i should either have the gauge pod or a tuner that has it built in. The a-pillar gauge pods on our '06 seem to be a big blind spot for me so i definetely would consider something different.
Any ideas/opinions/input would be greatly appreciated!!
THANK YOU!!

Please throw me some opinions guys...... i have the truck scheduled to go into the shop on Friday and need to make up my mind. I'm afraid that i am about to "chicken out" and go 4" exhaust for fear of the dreaded drone and problem finding a tip. I'm also starting to cut corners and maybe go the XRT to save the $300 price difference. Am i off base? I'm really not sure about going without a pyro gauge but may not be pulling much with this truck.

If any concern on sound i say stay with 4". Never seen that programmer. Just be sure it does DPF delete. It might be best to be sure there is EGR delete support too if you plan to block the EGR which many do eventually on the LMM.

Yeah, it does DPF delete as well as shut the EGR. I think that i may stick with the 4" exhaust as that is what i have on our '06....... even though the 5" would look cool. Guess i must be gettin old, when i'm more worried about it being loud then lookin good!!

I have tuned ECM's, pre-programmed with switchable tunes I've built using EFILive. See this link for more details on the 5 -position unit (http://duramaxtuner.com/stock-trans-ecm).

Straight-forward install with some of the best running tunes you'll find. No calibration/laptop work required.

You're welcome to call if you have any questions :)

Most people are going with a 5" kit for their LMM to get the most sound out of it. The LMM remains rather quiet even with a 5" straight pipe compared to other diesels on the road. As far as the tuners go, I would look at Edge Evolution Race, or CS/CTS Race. You will get excellent tuning as well as a monitor with gauges and safety features. We have several different packages on our site depending on your wants/budget. Feel free to give me a call with any questions you might have.
