Well as some of you know I had been searching for a decent rear mud flap for my truck. One that really worked and would protect what I was towing. I am not a big mud flap person as I like the look of our FAT BUTT truck where you can see both them hides out back. I wanted something removable, primarily as I have witnessed damage to a rear fender when a Husky mudflap caught a post.(not bagging on Husky, the GM units are the same)

So I purchased a set of Emkay mud flaps(see pics in my sig link) These are mud flaps that attach to a very nice bronze bracket at the hitch area. They are a quick install and can be removed and put away until needed, if so desired. I just went on a week long trip to Lake Shasta. I had my boat in tow. As some of you may know most boat launches and campsites are just rock so they get stuck in tires and then depart at a rapid rate of speed when you get back out on the main road. I can say these flaps worked to perfection. The flaps covered everything. Nothing hit the boat. To date without any flaps I have not had anything hit the truck which leads me to believe that rocks and other items leave long before they could hit the body anyway and that the body mount flaps do not hang low enough. The other significant benefit, not planned but was excellent, these flaps are attached in a location beyond the exhaust. As I have experienced on other tows, I get soot from the exhaust all over the boat and the other trailers I have towed on long road trips, Not this time. All was caught.

I highly recommend the flaps. They are heavy duty and well made. They are a bit pricey I suppose( $239 ) but if you have to have your Gel Coat fixed on your boat, replace the diamond plate on the front of your 5'er or spend hours wiping down debris and soot, at some point they will most certainly pay for themselves.

Thought I would pass along this product review from a real world user not an ad on a website.

Hey Kendall, what's the 4x4 supposed to mean. How many wheels you got for driving?

Second thing I did was pull the stickers. Probably will void the warrantee.

Kendall,
Looks Good. I had considered that option as well. But as you know, Diesel power emits a decent amount of soot :) and unfortunately that gets all over the boat on a long drive, the other flaps the exhaust is behind them. Either one works. Mostly wanted to let others know that they exist.

First I would get regular mud flaps like the truckers use. Then I would slip those on when pulling for extra protection. That way your exhaust pipe (or chrome exhaust tip) doesn't get all beatin with rocks.
