: 6.5s in Europe, where are you?
I'm thinking of making list of 6.5 owners residing in Europe, like this (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25981) one.
I'm in Germany, in the area of Münster, see here (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCnster_%28Westfalen%29) or there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCnster).
Where are you?
jammingmcV2 08-03-2005, 08:20 AM Hey Olee, just left GE after a 3 year stint. I was in western Germany, Baumholder to be exact, However I have traveled all over Europe.

jammingmcV2, where's Baumholder? Seems map24.de cannot find it.
funtoy, yes, I'm German. Seems your brother in law is working at a car shop? I don't know him and have never seen a Dmax for real, only on pics. Maybe he knows some good sources for spare parts, they are somewhat hard to come by.
funtoy 08-03-2005, 12:01 PM He is German, but can probably help you on spare parts.
If he don't help you I will be happy to help you.
I can PM you my e-mail or you can sent me your's

That's great :) Some parts are very expensive here, and though shipping and sometimes taxes add to the price, it can still be much cheaper to order in the US and have them shipped over in some cases.
If more folks show up here, we might even be able to make an aggregate order to cut down the shipping costs. For example, the_dole seems to be somewhere in Norway, and I might even come to Norway on my holiday trip shortly. It's a neighbouring country of Sweden, and maybe I'll be visiting the Lofoten islands there. That's about 3500kms to go from here, and I could bring some beer which is incredibly expensive there, and we could start a party :) If I'd need some part for my truck when in Norway, he might be able to help; should he come to Germany, I could help him.
the_dole 08-04-2005, 12:22 PM Yup, Norway here. Same thing here concerning the parts. I've only had my Truck a couple of weeks so I'm not very well oriented on what is available and where ayet. I tend to orient myself on availability through searching online and it seems all vendors having amcar stuff have bad webpages. Going to Norway this summer is a gamble weatherwise, great weather one day and pouring rain the next... Right now its exellent! ):h
edit:
So you have been to Norway before? Knowing our beer prices I mean? If you're heading this way do bring beer! ;)

Did you find vendors in Norway? I've found one in Germany, see www.pika.de, but the parts you get are sometimes of questionable quality, so buy somewhere else if you can.
Do you have Opel dealers in Norway? Some of them here are also GM dealers and can be an interesting source for parts. The Opel/GM dealer here is one you better stay away from, but they can read codes and may become a new source for parts since they managed to get me a new accessory belt I couldn't get anywhere else.

Ja, it seems to be a bit rainy up there this year, but I don't mind. The climate in Sweden is much less humid than it is here and always a delight, but Norway can be much different anyway because of the sea. Each time I come back from there, it takes about two weeks to get used to the hummidity here again.
I'd also like to go to Spain, but they are at about 30--40C and their forests are burning. I don't need that.

A couple of years ago I took a trip to the North Cape. I had all the food and beear I needed with me :) I wanted to eat a pizza in Narvik though, but they were asking about EUR 15 for a small one, so I quickly fled.
Where exactly are you? There's lots of room for beer in my truck and in my camper :)
the_dole 08-04-2005, 06:19 PM Stock parts shouldn't be too hard to come about here as there are both official importers and several firms importing and rebranding them under names such as Truckmasters.
Its more the aftermarket area I'm kinda curious about. But it will be a while until i can blow any money on it any way so i got some time to do the research. But I need to get myself a decent exhaust soon, dunno if the horses feel the same way about it though.. ;)
Spain sounds nice except for the burning forests.
Wise move to bring food and beer coming here, no wonder we act like mad men when we are anywhere with cheep beer. I live in a place called Sĉtre, its about an hours drive south vest of Oslo by the Ocean.

That's good, since you'll be able to get common replacement parts, like all the filters. But hey, try to get an accessory belt, OEM from Goodyear :)
Does GM officially sell Diesels in Norway? They don't sell any here, gassers only.

Do you even have that, too? There's none in Germany.

Well, I won't like the heat very much and would have to stay at the coast. But the east coast is not as accessible as one would whish, I'd go to Portugal then. It's not the right time to be there yet; a month later would be better. And don't go there in March, I've had very much wind and much rain, but only a few nice days. And it's rather cold in the Morning, I've seen 8.5C in the morning when sleeping in the truck.

see pic :) I took it in March while waiting for embarkment of the ferry.

Hmm, I'll have to check my maps tomorrow. It doesn't seem to be too far off the route I plan to take. I'll be going North from Malmö, and I think I could as well go through Oslo if there's only a way to go east from there. I don't want to take the E45 through Sweden this time because I'll be getting north much quicker along the east coast/Finnland.
I would start on Monday or before, but I'm not sure if I can make it. We had taken the relocated batteries and the parking heater out of my truck because I planned to sell it, and it takes more time to put things back in as I expected. There are some other things I'd like to do, and I still have to arrange for changing the tranny oil. I'll not go without that. Hm, Monday evening maybe, but probably later ... Have you something on schedule the weekend after the next?
