My truck belt has been squeaking for several minutes at cold startup lately. I notcied this in serveral other Duramax motors I have been around too.

Is this a issue or normal?

It's an issue with LBZ's. A gatorback belt usually will fix it. Mine did it since day one..

My LB7 ranch truck does it also.

As long as its normal I guess I will wait to change belt. I only have 60000 miles on my motor.

The belt change is well worth the $ and effort.

Have the pulley alignment checked, it will be off. Belt squeal is not normal.

Could this be why I have a vibration with engine rpm under load?

Mine only does it in cold temps. It was has been warm, in the 80s lately here and the truck is not doing it. Is it normal only in cold and why does it only do it in cold temps?

is that why it only does it when cold outside?

Maybe because the rubber is harder when cold. same reason it stops once it slips for a little while maybe.

I did the pulley realignment when it was new. Now at 30K miles, original belt, still quiet, hot or cold. After paying 48 K for the truck it sure was satisfying not to have it sound like there was a hamster on a wheel under the hood.
