I know this is the duramax forum, thats the reason I'm always on it. I value the advice given here and so I'm figuring this would be a good place for honest opinions. My wife is wanting an H3 and I found her a diesel with low miles. Any idea on how these perform and would you recommend? There will be no mods added. She actually thinks she wants a gasser because she sees what all I put into mine :D. If its a good motor, I'll be trying to convince her otherwise. thanks in advance for any replies!

Not sure what you're looking at, but so far as I know, there is no such thing as an H3 diesel. There's an "alpha" version, with a 5.3L gas engine, as opposed to the 3.7L 5 cyl inline that's the base engine.

Ya, I was surprised too. It's listed with a 5 cylinder turbo diesel. I'll have to email the guy and clarify? Prolly too good to be true...he may have screwed up his cut n paste.

GM put a diesel in a H3 for South Africa market only. The H3 with diesel were built and sold only in South Africa to my best knowledge.

That H3 listing is a complete bungle. No such thing in NA. Goes right up there with all the listings you see for manual trans vehicles that were never offered with manual transmissions. Some sales jockey clicked the wrong button.
Now there were some 4.5L dmax H2's running around, before that program got scrapped. Oh how cool a 1/2 ton turbodiesel could have been!!!

GM Nazis make them for the rest of the world but not the US. It's time to stop this NO DIESELS for America stuff. Our fuel economy could double or better with cars and suvs. Friggin' Germans sell only diesels in US. It's a racket bet on it.

Yep, the seller blamed it on autofill from the vin number. Too bad. Would've been nice. I think she's leaning more toward an avalanche if the price is right anyway.
