just like it says what is the max timing on a 8.1 at WOT. im running 22 degrees depending on what WOT is on gm/cyl "air flow" im guessing 1.20 is WOT and i have no tuning software. thanks

Are you asking what's the max you can run or what's the max in the factory tune? And either way there's not a simple answer. It goes more by load and RPM than throttle position.

Well for instance a high load and high air flow, what would be the most you would want to advance and avoid detonation. I no I need scanning software.

The ultimate timing number for your engine is dictated by the way you drive, what type of fuel you use etc. the goal is to have Maximum cyl pressure at 12*ATDC (this is where your crank journal stops moving laterally across the bore and starts heading down/the piston starts down as well) to get max cyl pressure at 12* after you need to light the fuel charge at some point BTDC, Light it, let it burn, then the piston comes up to the burning fuel and smashes it against the head which makes the big explosion known as combustion, this combustion takes a certain amount of time also, depending on fuel grade/quality, so to get the Timing # thats best for you-you need to try different ones. there isn't really one that works for everyone. You'll know when you have the sweet spot cause it will really feel like it came to life :)
