I have an 03 3500 dually that has an excessively bright high beam indicator light. When I bought the truck with 22,000 miles on it I took it the dealer and they updated the soft wear per the SB and fixed the light.
A short time later the speedometer went bad and they replaced the instrument cluster. The bright indicator problem came back.
I have been back in so many times with this problem that it is not even funny. They keep telling me the software update is loaded. I think that the software at GM or the trucks computer (whereever it is recorded) shows it to be loaded but the speedometer module doesn't have it loaded. Either that is the case or the speedometer module is defective. They claim to have called GM tech service (this was after I called GM) and tech service says they can't override the program to reload the software.
I may not be the smartest person about computers and etc. but it seems to me that something is wrong in what they are telling me. It also seems that the techs just do not want to take the time to resolve this, nor does the service manager and writer. Therefore Bankston Chev in North Richland Hills, TX will no longer get my business and probably my two sons will go elsewhere. But I am sure they could careless.
Is there a solution to this issue other than putting tape over the light?
