After about 3000 miles a chirping/squealing sound came from under the hood when hot. If I had to guess I would venture to say it was a belt noise. Took the truck into the dealer and they replaced the belt and the idler pulley. Picked the truck up the next day it was as bad if not worse. Was leaving for Arizona so didn't have time to fool around. Truck runs alright with temps and voltage fine but the squealing sound persists. Now in Arizona and it is hot so the noise is almost constant. Anyone else experience this or have a fix. Thanks, Tim

There is a bearing assembly that is associated with the water pump that may be the culprit. I think there was another post on it. Not a bad repair to do.
Also could be the altenator or a/c compressor. good luck

I have a similar issue...but mine only does it when cold. It has been there since day one on my truck. I have yet to go back to the dealer to have them look at it though.

p.s. pulley alignment needs to be checked with a lazer, as well as the belt.

Your right I forgot about alignment. That was an issue with a few of the earlier generations. And that would make sense with the belt heating up.

Wonder if the Goodyear Gatorback belt is available for these ? Fixed my LBZ

I think the gator backs work because they allow more of a variance of the pulleys due to the design, in the end it is always( based on my years at the dealer using a lazer align, tool) a alignment issue and being that the only one adjustable thats the one that gets moved.

I'm having very slight noise also, seems like the chirp but not as bad as my LBZ was.. I'm going to listen harder next time im in. My LBZ chirped for 4 years.
