Help!!! I’m not sure what all of this means. I’m running stock 09 GMC 2500HD SLE and ran 10,000 miles on Mobil Delvac 1300 oil and a Delco filter. I pulled a minimum of 7,500 lbs and as much as 11,000 lbs for 9,000 of the miles. Other than their suggestion to go to 12,000 miles before the next oil change are there any concerns that that I should be aware of.

I know a UOA is only a good tool if you know how to read it.

You do realize that your NAME/ADDRESS/PH# ETC are all there for the world to see!? I'm sure that most of the people on this forum are the upstanding type but then again I'm sure there are lurkers that are looking for any opportunity to fill their pockets at someone else's expense. Just my .02

Overall, nothing to be alarmed about.

I would ask a few questions, to help us understand the numbers.

Is this load of Delvac only your second oil load? IOW, did you run the factory fill for 10k miles, then this load for 10k miles, for the whole 20k miles? If so, I'd say this is actually fairly good UOA. Don't forget that the "universal average" numbers are based upon a 6.6k mile run, and you went way past that.

One thing that will spike your wear metals is, of course, break in. Secondly, you're towing heavy most all the time; that adds to the Fe numbers and is very "normal" in circumstances such as yours. (You have, in essence, both heavy towing and break-in happening at the same time). Your Cu is most likely the oil cooler leaching out Cu; very typical of some newer Dmax engines. Your Al and Pb are fine, indicating that other parts are seeing very little wear.

The TBN is outstanding, but that it to be expected. You clearly get this engine up to temp and it stays there; any moisture accumulation is boiled off in short order. Once the moisture is gone, there is nothing left for the sulphur to react with. And with the newer ULSD fuel, there is also very little sulphur at all, hence, the TBN is VERY high still.

However, I would caution against a longer run at this point. If you're running 10k mile OCIs, I'd just leave it there for now. Your insolubles, while not "high", are not as low as some. Nothing to be concerned about, but not worth a longer run at this point.

This is yet another example of a 10k mile OCI on Delvac 1300, with good results. Anyone that cannot recognize the benefit to today's quality dino oils and longer OCIs by now, simply cannot grasp the concept of UOAs at all.

Thank you, for the feed back. This was the third oil and filter change 2,500, 10,000 and 20,000. Delvac 1300 in at 2,500, 10,000, 20,000 and for that matter 30,000. Should I consider changing oil more frequently?

I'd stick with what you have going right now; Delvac 1300 at 10k miles.

Run another UOA or two and the wear should be coming down. Post them up and we'll review again at that time.
