I need to remove the door panel on the pasenger side of my 2001 Silverado 3500 ext cab dually to fix the power window and while I'm in there I will be replacing the speakers and will do the one on the driver's side too. What do I need to know to avoid breaking stuff? Any special tools required other than a door trim removal tool to pry out the ridged retaining clips? All tips/tricks are appreciated.

Also I can flip up the rear seat bottom but the seat back will not fold down. Is this normal or is there a certain way you have to release the seat back to fold down to access the back wall of the cab interior? I did not get the owner's manual with the truck and if anyone knows where I can get one please let me know. Thanks.

For clear door panel removal instructions go here:

http://www.ttt-mirror.com/instructions.html

and find your application.

You can download an owner's manual here:

http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/motion/gmc/ownermanuals/dispManualInfo

IIRC only the seat bottom folds up, the back does not fold down...

hey thanks for the help...the door panels don't look that difficult to re and re, I'll give it a go this week-end maybe. Also to modify the back seat hangers looks do-able too.I'm going to download an owner's manual now.;)

Has it been 3 months already??!!??...so I finally got my power windows sorted out. After the passenger side power window motor packed it in, I just lived with it for a few months...winter time and snow/rain didn't make me want to rush to fix it so it waited. Then the one on the driver's side went so it was time to fix them...took the door panels off as per the instructions in the mirror link above (piece of cake) and replaced both assemblies with new ones from GM. Passenger side motor was dead and cable had snapped on driver's side due to window being frozen to the rubber molding and the auto-down feature kept trying to lower it!!!...something had to give.

Also replaced the crap factory paper speakers with a set of Alpine Type-S 6.5" two-ways and they sound great...best upgrade yet!!..I got the window motor/regulator assemblies from the Dealer as they had them in stock and I didn't want to wait for delivery of aftermarket ones on the Web. After adding a couple light bulbs, getting a new key cut and throwing in a new stainless travel mug it came to $480 after talking them down a few bucks in price. Definitely worth the effort to do it yourself as you save some $$$ on the labour, it's super easy to do and new windows work great. The tracks are lubed with white lithium grease at the factory and the windows fly up and down now!
