OK,
Just got my first GM truck and I really didn't know what I was missing. Seats are great and truck rides great. Now, I want to spend some of my hard earned money. Should I should I get the SuperChip or the Predator. Or is there a better one out there for the Duramax 05? I don't want the on the fly switch box ones. I did get the SuperChip first but to my surprise the box told me to send it to the factory for updating. I call the place where I bought it and they sent me a Predator. With the Predator I am getting soft sluggish 4th and 5th gear changing. Also what other muffer and air intake is great to go with, without voiding the factory warranty?

predator. lose the muffler and cat. intake will do nothing but add more whistle for you. give yourtranny time to learn the predator. be careful at the 65hp, 85hp and 100hp ranges when stomping on it. you could limp the tranny. the turbo lag will go away with the muffler gone. get a finger stick and egr blocker plate and straight pipe it. if you need a muffler, get something like the MBRP. That way you can swap the original cat pipe (so called downpipe as some refer to it as), whenever you go in for service. it will take an hour to 2 to swap them out, dependant upon you, and you can bring it in. then you can change it back when you get back. Stright piped is not noticeable until you get on it. you won't really notice it when it is idling.

I agree with NCMIC on everything but the air box. I like a modified S&B, but at least work on getting some cool air into the stock box. I cut the bottom out of 1 of my stock boxes, modified the mounting plate underneath, and ducted down for cool air. This kind of stuff does more good for performance than most people think. Intake air temps dropped 50 degrees while towing!

Warlocc- Welcome to the site! I suggest looking into the PPE Xcelerator for electronic performance. There are several members here that run them and have made the switch from the Predator. They offer three different boxes depending on your needs. Check our website for more info. As far as exhaust goes, if you want to keep your factory warranty intact, go with a cat-back system. MBRP makes a system that fits and sounds great. There is alot of different opinions on whether or not an aftermarket intake is beneficial. Some say it does nothing others swear by them. If you do plan on getting one I would check out the AFE intakes. Dont hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.
