Scott,

We have pics of the pillars but not in a truck, take a look at our site. The A pillars we sell by Auto meter look exactly like your stock pillar, they just have the gauge "bubble" on them. Be sure to check for the speaker if you have it on your factory pillar too, we have both styles.
Call us if you have any questions etc.

GMC,

Just curious how you did the screws in the A-pillar pod? I am a little dissatisfied that the top of the guage pod does not sit flush with the stocker. I am going to either add some double sided tape or tap som screws in. I am worried that the tape will just come apart in my 140 degree car here in Phoenix, so the tap and screw method might be the ticket.

I think that yours looks pretty clean and I would like to do it that way. Details please, thanks!

I like it. Did it come that color or did you spray it? Cost?

Thanks,
Jim

AXE,

The Auto Meters fit better than some of the other brands out there, cost a few dollars more but worth it, dont' know what brand yours is but ours fit flush if you install it correctly. The attachment pins are made so you can put them in the very edge and the weatherstip covers them up if you get them close enough to the edge as a bonus. They aren't screws they are rachets or push pins as they are called, plastic pins with flares on the back side. Push them thru both pieces of plactic and they hold it all together, the Auto meter A pillar also has an actual snap over design and lots of folks don't even use the pins as it holds itself on, its their exclusive design. The paints and primers are available too, we have the pewter, charcoal and tan as well as special plastic primers etc.

Mark,

The a-pillar guage pod I have was purchased from you. I actually don't think that you sent me the Auto Meter brand, as I recall there was a sticker on the back side referencing another company. I will probably pull it and check it.

Anyway, the guage pod I have fits pretty well, but the top portion of mine leaves a small (1/8") gap between the headliner and you can see the stock a-pillar plastic behind it as well as near the weather stripping. This condition seems to get worse if you travel off-road at all, as I did this past weekend. The gap is now a little larger.

I may get some "Christmas tree" style body panel clips and add them, but I may first try some double sided tape for a cleaner look.

I used the tan color and it matches pretty well. However, I would recommend the primer or you will have to do more coats to get even color.

AXE,

If you got it from us yuo got Auto Meter product, we have tried the others and the quality isn't there at all! Gauge Works is the base manufacturer of the products, they make all of Auto Meter's mounts etc. I bet if you check you'll find the gauge mount is attached at a lower height relative to the stock A pillar, that's pretty much the only way that it won't meet the headliner. When you join the two you have to be really watching when you drill the holes as they will move on you and then you can have some misalignment etc. If it's a problem we'll take care of you on it, just let us know etc.

DuckhunterInTN,

Check out site we have a pic there, they send the same rachets and double stick tape as well in case you don't want to drill any holes etc.

Yeah, the name on the back was Guage Works. Overall, it fits pretty well. I have it centered on the speaker cut out, so I know that it is aligned as good as its going to get. I think the only problem is that the top wants to pull away from the a-pillar a little, I am sure due to the weight. I am confident that it can be tweeked to look as clean as possible.

Oh, ok, so it just goes over the factory plastic cover? I didn't know if it replaced it or covered it. Do you have to paint it or is it already the correct color?

DuckhunterInTN,

They are black and we have the three GM interior colors and plastic primers to match it as well.

Mine came in black as all the others do. I just got the paint that matched the interior color code and painted it. As for the screws, I just found some short black screws that would be easily hidden and drilled 2 extra holes in the top and made sure they held after putting them in. Now the top is flush and there is no rattle from it and it holds nicely. Good luck

Mark at DieselPerformanceParts was awesome! Took the time to tell me the difference between gauges, mounts, etc. I could buy all the stuff at our local speed shop but the prices are higher. With shipping Mark was still lower than the local guys and he is much more knowledgeable. Supporting the DieselPlace!!!!!:ro)

THANKS AGAIN MARK!
