I am thinking about swapping out the cloth for leather in my LMM. What is involved what doing this and what are my options that others have done?

What should I look for/stay away from?

Thanks,

How is the job of removing the cloth and putting on the new covers. How long will it take?

I would say 30-45 mins per seat

if you are going to do this pick up a steamer from walmart, makes the job that much easier

Do the seats have to come out of the truck to do the swap? I am guessing yes.

What is the price range i should be looking for or expecting? I would like to do heated seats at the same time. What should I look for option wise for the interior?

Does GM offer leather seats with the split bench in the front? Or is it only with the bucket seats?

I got quoted $1009 for front and rear seats at katzkin.com, colored inserts and double stitched stitching. I did not do heated inserts either.

It's harder than some have stated and it will take some time if you haven't done this before. I would plan on about four hours per seat and extra for the seat backs and console cover. The new leather needs a lot of pulling and stretching to get it on and your hands will be sore from the work. The front seats are the hardest and you need to be careful taking the original covers off. They are attached to the foam with small clips that must be removed without pulling the clips from the cushion. If these clips are damaged, the new covers will not fit properly and the only fix is to buy new cushions. Take your time and do it right. I see photos posted that look great and some that are - well less than that. I have pics in my garage of my install. The covers are from leatherseats.com.

There are no hog rings used, so the only special tools needed are a set of external Torx sockets to remove the seats from the truck.

Good information guys. I looked at ebay and found a complete set of GM leather seat covers. Factory replacement for leather. For 299. What do you think? Or should I go with an aftermarket leather kit?

If the OEM leather is new and the seller wants 299 I'd go it. Then I'd look around for a upholsterer who would install for a reasonable price. Nicely installed upholstery looks great. Too may wrinkles, creases, bulges and whatnot can make a upholstery job look like hell and devalue you vehicle,
