I'v got an '02 2500hd dmax CC SB with a meer 64k. I heard some squeeking coming from the right rear and took it to the stealer shop, just got a call and he said it was the rear wheel seals and that they were shot.
Not covered under any warrenty, and to repair it will be $950.
Called the GM service folks and they said that the only 100k warrenty is on the engine and the powertrain ran out at 36k. It that right? What kind of Profesional Grade piece of dung is that?
I told them that I've never had rear seals go bad on trucks that I've put 100k on and used a lot harder.

Anyone else had this problem? resolution?

I had mine replaced a couple of weeks ago at 36,500. The engine warranty is 100k but everything else is 36K. I have the extended warranty so it was covered but they told me that it was about an 800-900 dollar job by the time they replaced seal on both sides, brakes etc. I would think that you could probably find a better price outside GM. If you do a search on axles or seals, etc. it appears that this is not uncommon on these trucks....Bill

The seals are 20 bucks a peice. They will tell you that you need to replace the pads and the emergency brake setup. I just replaced my wheel seal, cleaned everything up, cost me 20 bucks for the seal, 6 bucks for 3 cans of brake parts cleaner, and 10 dollars for a hub socket. I've put 5000 miles on it without problems
