: Help with PPE ?
05_LLY 08-01-2005, 05:49 PM I was wondering if anybody could give me their opinion what would be the best programer/module for my 05 reg. cab 6sp? I was looking at either the hot xcelerator programer but I think that might be a bit much, I only have the muffler removed and cat gutted, also looking for a good gauge setup?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Max Power 08-01-2005, 07:52 PM If you are looking for guages as well look at the Edge Juice/Attitude. Very nice setup and a smooth performer. Lots of power and you can change the power levels on the fly.

I went with the PPE Hot excelerator on my 05 and love it. Smooth quick, power. I only run it on the level 2 setting (90 HP) with the stock tranny. I highly recommend them.
P.S. I have no experience with Edge products (unless you count the Cummins on Hot Juice last night that is still trying to figure how to get that cloud of diesel exhaust out of his cab.
JCAST 08-04-2005, 01:00 PM Goalnightx, Does yours have the 4 power settings?
just wondering if you have used it on the 240HP setting at all?
McRat 08-04-2005, 02:54 PM If you run it on "Kill" it will produce about 425rwhp (on Blue) on a Mustang, and it will smoke the clutches in the trans. The Hot tune is a Racing Tune, and is intented only for built trannys. It will push a 7500lb truck to a 13.90 in the 1/4mi at 2000DA.
Until you get the trans built, stay in the lower tunes.

Hi JCAST,
It has 4 power levels. See below.
Level I 60HP and 120Torque
Level II 90HP and 180Torque
Level III 130HP and 260Torque
Level IV 240HP and 390Torque
I have tried the 130HP, but as the veterans around point out the stock tranny will just fry. I never had it on the 130 tune long enough for the Allison to "relearn" so the shifts were inconsistent but the power is ridiculas. Can't wait to get the trannt dome to play with level 3 & 4. :ro)
05_LLY 08-04-2005, 04:27 PM Thanx for all the help. I decided to go with the Edge for the simple fact of the attitude moniter. The local truck shop can get it for me for $730.00 I plan to try stacking it with something down the road probally a ppe. Cash a little short right now getting married on Sat! But for now I want to get the edge and see how the truck works with it. Any ideas on how far I can push the stock dmf and clutch? The most I really ever tow is my 6,000lb horse trailer.
JCAST 08-04-2005, 04:33 PM Hello Goalnightx,
I was wondering since they have the upgrade for 200 bucks maybe doing for future use? Mine came with the truck from Chevy with only the first 3 settings. PPE web page says 200 for upgrade any suggestions?
Thanks
Juan

Unless your tranny is done I would save the $200 bucks for now. Most people have said the 240HP is really touchy on the pedal so no could for street use. I bought the four level box only because I knew I would be upgrading sometime this fall. Also, do a search for the P1093 issue with the LLY's. That may also sway your decision for the upgrade.
Goalnightx 08-04-2005, 05:52 PM Unless you got the tranny done I would just save the $200 for now. Most people who have tried the 240 setting report that the throttle is really touchy. So unless your going to drag it it probably would not be very "civil" driving around town. Also do a search for P1093 codes with the increased fuel pressure. G

Are you trying to tell me Chevy sold you a truck with a programmer installed? Probably one of the first ones I have heard.
JCAST 08-05-2005, 09:33 AM Yes it was already installed. Hendricks chevrolet. Pretty Cool:ro)

Hey, as long as they'll stand behind it on warranty work, I don't see any downfalls.):h
lakingslayer 08-05-2005, 10:04 AM Yes it was already installed. Hendricks chevrolet. Pretty Cool:ro)
That dealer has to warranty the truck. If GM finds out about it they will most likely try to void the warranty:(. This also means that you may not be able to get warranty work done at another dealer.
JCAST 08-05-2005, 10:08 AM Yes that is correct the dealer will warranty it.I had a long conversation with the manager about the warrenty, the only thing he said was if i took it to another dealer to remove the settings.
lakingslayer 08-05-2005, 10:13 AM Glad you were at least informed. It would have sucked if you were on the road somewhere thinking that GM would honor it and have them deny. I hope they let everyone know this that they sell them to.
