: Please help, LLY vs. LBZ
xrocket21 10-29-2010, 07:59 PM Im looking at two trucks
2004.5 LLY, loaded, 71.2k miles, asking $25,000
2006 LBZ, loaded, 90.2k miles, asking $27,000
they are so close, it's tough to decide
blkdmax05 10-29-2010, 09:32 PM LBZ has a little more power and a sixth gear in the allison w/tapshift control. LLY has a little less power and one less gear with no tapshifter. You can add a tapshifter and more power to a LLY easy. SOME, NOT ALL LLYs were plagued by overheating issues. There is a fix but not everyone needs it. I've never had an issue even with towing in the mountains in the summer. Do I ever wish I had held out for a LBZ? Hell no I love my LLY-it does everything I ask of it quickly and easily. If either of those trucks your looking at has been hot rodded avoid it. Other then that its whichever one is in better shape or has been cared for better
xrocket21 10-30-2010, 07:19 AM Thanks dude, going to test drive the 06 this morning
blakjak 10-30-2010, 08:47 AM Haggle the hell out of those prices. In my opinion, both are priced at least 3k-5k too high from what I've seen.
WI Huck 10-30-2010, 08:54 AM Go for the LBZ just for the extra gear in the transmission. The LBZ will have a high demand for a long time because it is the last one before the particulate filters were introduced. Check them both out closely and the only reason to go with the LLY over the LBZ is if the LBZ shows signs of abuse. Or, just keep looking for another LBZ. They are both good, but that would be my choice.
xrocket21 10-30-2010, 02:51 PM Drove all the way to CT to look at the 06
It had the front bumper replaced, and the lower half of the body was all painted. The tranny cooler hose was leaking
it was good looking on the surface, but I think they churched up a beat truck
went and looked at the 04, and was ready to buy
credit good, all good
sticker price was 25.5, internet price was 24.9, I offered 24, and I think that is reasonable. They came back with 24.5, I held at 24. They came back with 24.3, and I really was set on 24. They said they couldnt do it, so we walked.
WI Huck 11-01-2010, 11:17 PM They will call you back. Good luck!
Hate2bhassled 11-07-2010, 05:46 PM did you get the truck yet?

Nope, those two were no good, so I am still looking. After looking at the 06, I think thats the style I want to go with. I jusst need to find one!

what was the deal with the lly? you said the lbz had leaky tranny lines
xrocket21 11-09-2010, 07:48 AM what was the deal with the lly? you said the lbz had leaky tranny lines
The LBZ had leaky tranny lines, and it had been in an accident, had fresh paint and a new bumper.
The LLY looked good, but after looking at the 06, I like the looks better, and wanted the 6 speed, so when I put an offer on the LLY, I didnt want to budge. The dealer wouldnt come down more than $700, and I was only asking $1000, but I walked.
