Hello everyone, I'm sure this has been discussed before but here we go again...
I have an 05 2500HD 4x4. I want to get lockers for my truck along with re-gearing front and back.
I was told just to get the Eaton Locker in the rear and not the front unless I wanted to do rock climbing and stuff like that which I do not plan on doing. Does this mean that I will have 3 tires turning instead of just 2? both rears and 1 in the front right?
Also suggested I re-gear now that they will be installing the locker. suggest to run 4:56's front and back. Should I leave the gears stock or re-gear?
Outlaw in Irvine, CA wants to charge me about $2500 for eaton locker in the rear, re-gear front and back, and add the Cognito traction bars.
What do you guys think? Should I do it or not? I have the money, although I am not really familiar with lockers or gears so therefor I want your opinion.
Thanks
Sam

as far as i am aware of, no one really has a locker of any kind for gm trucks. there has been a few that have put something in there thats for a dodge, since they are the same axle, but it wasnt eaton. eaton does make a front locker for us!

There are only 2 choices for a rear diff in any "hd" hybrid 11.5 rearend-the JUNK factory gov lock that the trucks come with stock and substituting the dodge factory "trac-lock". I am a dealer for randys ring and pinion and just discused this with them after blowing teeth off my stock 04 d-max posi. On a side note the factory dodge track lock is over a hundred dollars less to buy than the gm one,Smitty
Tomac runs an E-Locker up front I believe

4.56 will return you to stock rpm with 38's. If you want to be at 2100 rpm going down the freeway, you'll be fine.
Not sure why you'd want to replace the rear diff if it's not busted, but the front wheels make most of your off-road traction in a truck. Spinning a front tire makes your truck a RWD. If your G80 is still intact (the locker that came from the factory with the HD Power Package), I'd invest the money on a E Locker for FRONT. Might get you out of a bind sometime. Putting a LSD in the back (your only other option) is counterproductive from a low speed traction perspective.
Try www.drivetraindirect.com in Corona, about 30 minutes away from you. They did my Ford and my Camaro and I was very happy with the work, and the prices are right. It's not a "Mom and Pop" performance shop, all they do is differentials, and they are big.

Thanks for the info, I am still doing my homework so I am in no rush to get this done. I want to make sure I am spending my dollars correctly and be able to get a good use out of it.
