: nv4500 help 4th gear pops out ctowndieselboy 10-29-2010, 05:17 PM i have a 1993 6.5 5 speed with 227k miles. it pops out of 4th gear sometimes when i hit a good bump in the road and it always pops out if i accelerate in 4th gear and take my foot off the accelerator. anyone had this problem? thanks MikeV 11-05-2010, 04:15 AM My guess would be that either the shifting strut springs are worn or damaged or the springs in the shifting tower are worn as well. Weasel 11-11-2010, 08:11 PM ctowndieselboy I have a 93 with a 5-speed. Mine would pop out of gear in OD. It would do that when going down a hill and off the fuel. I dont have that much of mileage like you have, mine is 107K. I changed the trans oil to Amsoil that is made for the NV4500. I have no more popping out of gear. Check out the web sight for Amsoil, Napa will sell you anything, beware. If you change the oil, it will only hold 4 quarts. Cost is around $13.50 per Q. My be worth the cost. This should be changed every 100K. Weasel | ||
