Anybody read the article on the cover page truck for the December issue of Diesel Power, the $160,000.00 2002 F-550 . My first house, with 3 bedrooms, 3 car garage, on huge lot, cost $197,000.00. Talk about a waste of money. The part I laughed the most over was the use of Boeing 747 bolts for the wheels.......geeeezzz, and the overly complicated transmission cooler, a better solution would be to buy a Mike L. cooler. It doesn't sound like it tows any better than my $40,000.00 truck. Personally, I would be embarassed to have dumped that much money.........on a Ford.

Huh, this makes no sense. 160k? Whoever paid that is a fool.

What I will say is the 2011 F550 chassis cab with pickup build is the ultimate Camper or 5er hauler. It's got Class 5 capability but the low profile of a pickup. The 2011 F450 pickup (no c/c) is down to a Class 3 is basically just an upbadged F350 with widetrack front end and is far lighter duty than the 2008-2010 F450 PU which was a class 4. Gone is the danas110 rear, the 15.3" brakes, the 19.5 alcoas and about 600lbs curb weight. Now, the powertrain is a big step fwd from my 5sp 6.4 for sure which I why I'm considering a 2011 F550 chassis cab. The one thing holding me back is the GCWR is less than the 33k I have now, even though the GVWR is more. Go figure.

Now, if I go back to a SRW which I'm hoping I'll be able to the new Chevy 3500 SRW SB is the current front runner.

I can see how the total truck cost could come close to that if he bought it brand new and counted labor in the final number.

I personally broke the $50K mark in mods (counting labor) on my truck a few months ago and I still have about $20k in plans, and that is not counting purchasing the truck.

Granted I still think he got ripped off, but I can see how it is possible.

If I had that much money I'd probably have me an expensive ass truck too. I wouldn't mind one bit if people thought it was stupid because I'd be living the good life.

I dunno... if I was gonna spend that much on a truck, I think I'd get this one: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd280/randy_the_hack/SEMA%202009/PB020008.jpg

Don't know what your towing capacity would be... but you'd be riding in style, and there would be no one tailgating... ):h

Well, I'd still consider it... if I were inclined to spend that much $$$ on a truck (which I'm not). :D

First i have to say I Hate ford. That being said, That is a lot more "Truck" looking than the competition. The price is decent for what it is. Where I work we sell "Summit Haulers," a badge of our company, not much more than Freightliner M2 with a utility bed and 4 doors and they go for closer to 200,000. If you are in the market for that kind of a vehicle it is worth the money. I feel dirty for calling a ford worth the money, going to go cry in the shower now.

You can buy a 2000 sf house on a 1/2 acre in Vegas right now for that kind of money.

You can save that money instead of spending it like a tard. There are money more things you can buy for 160k than a friggin truck. No truck is ever worth spending that kind of cash for....
