Mike-any new word on your cooler with a fan?

This would be extremely handy at slow speeds in hot temps!

Thanks.

I also have been waiting for a cooler with a fan. I seem to keep seeing high temps at below 40 mph speeds. I can pull through Denver on I-70 doing 50 mph and never have a temperature problem but if I am driving below 40 mph in the city I see high temps. A larger cooler with a fan would be great. I just hope Mike L. puts together a simple install and yet be a top quality product.

Stock cooler and tranny: I dropped my temps about 15-25 degrees by sealing the stack. I did about 20 (0-60) runs over the course of 30 minutes. 190 was as hot as I could get it, on this 100 degree day. I tried to get it to go over, my brakes started to smell. I had seen 210 before, mt. It's amazing how much air the fan wasn't pulling through the stack. Total investment was 50 cents, including cardboard nose shroud.

IMO, you won't get a front mounted "pusher" to help, it only creates an obstruction to an already miserable cooling flow issue. there's no real room up there either. There is so much ambient airflow improvement potential in this weak design. All it ever needed was just more air.

If you pull the grill off, and examine the Intercooler and radiator, you can feel the air being forced over the top and bottom openings, fill all those gaping cracks on the bottom and top with hi temp foam. Also, from under hood, find the space created between the rad and IC, on the sides, and fill that.

Now if you want to enhance low speed cooling still further, shroud the cooler to the condenser, that will allow the fan, when it kicks on, to pull more air through the cooler. I haven't tried this yet, but it follows the same logic.

If you want to really improve the cooler, mount it lower. The center of hi static pressure resides a few inches below present location. but just sealing makes an enormous difference, better ac and intercooler performance also.

Does anyone have any pictures of "Sealing the stack"? I don't even know what the stack is.

The grill just pulls straight off?

there is one bolt on the GMC grill, and 8 clips. Begin on one end, and work to the other end, pulls straight forward.

the bull nose is going to have to go, if you are serious about this.

The bull nose will have to come off to remove the grill?

If your implying that it will have to come off to get good airflow then I don't see that that is a factor. It replaced the factory bumber and has cooling holes larger than the factory bumper with nothing but a pipe hoop in front of the grill.

Maybe I am missing something. Which is easy for me to do.

I guess I should mention also that my truck doesn't run hotter with the Bull nose.
